Born & Raised on James Street North is a true gem in Hamilton’s dining scene. The atmosphere is warm, intimate, and full of energy perfect for date night or a night out with friends. Wouldn’t really say it’s a family friendly environment. It is quite loud/busy something to consider depending on the type of evening you’re looking for.
We started with fresh oysters that were beautifully presented and full of flavour. The cocktail list was balanced, creative, and well-crafted. I ordered the salmon and it was cooked to absolute perfection—crispy on the outside, tender inside, and plated with care.
The wood-fired pizzas and handmade pastas looked incredible—definitely on my list for next time. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and the kitchen takes real pride in every dish.

Great place to get some food and drinks with friends or as a couple. They have a lot of fresh authentic food prepared daily and with generous portions. Pizza is prepared on site in a stone brick oven, which is pretty cool, as you can see the entire process. Well priced and very tasty.

Born & Raised is one of our absolute favourite spots in Hamilton and a go-to for date night. My husband and I frequent it often and it never disappoints. The brussels sprouts are a must — we order them practically every single time. The pastas are outstanding, especially the rigatoni and the mushroom pasta, both a solid 10/10. While service can sometimes take a bit of time, we actually love that — it feels intentional and relaxed, like you’re encouraged to enjoy your evening instead of being rushed out the door. Overall, amazing food, great vibes, and a place we’ll continue coming back to.

Our favourite Sunday cooldown after work. Elyse, Braden, and the server who served us (updated once we get his name) (Feb23 @12am) are especially hardworking and who put effort in treating their guests. As someone who is a server in this industry, we can see who puts effort into their work and who enjoy it. This is a well community based restaurant with multiple connections with one another so I deeply respect, recommend, and appreciate the people who work here. We’ll always be back for the people who work they’re hardest here.

Amazing good. Great service. Great place to dine, although it gets quite noisy when patrons are filled in. Highly recommend the Spicy Brussels appetizer (not that hot). Overall, most food items were delicious but quite salty (if you don’t like salty food, try to remember to ask for less salt with the server). The spots fill up fast so recommend to make reservation.

I went out for dinner with my partner and in-laws and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We all raved about how fantastic they were and how the atmosphere makes it feel like you are actually eating a meal in Italy. The staff were also so friendly as they made you feel like you were part of the family. Highly recommend for some authentic Italian cuisine!

My wife and I stopped in for a quick visit on our self-guided oyster tour….very glad we did! As a wannabe oyster connoisseur, I can easily say the oysters they served were amongst the best I’ve ever had. The waiter told me the name but unfortunately, the cocktails made me forget. The service and the vibe were great, as were the cocktails. We must come back for dinner.
