BEWARE! The PIES and CAKES have MOLD!
I stopped here to buy food for Sunday dinner. At the last minute, I decided to purchase a sweet potato pie. When I got home, I noticed MOLD on the pie! Absolutely disgusting! I drove 20 minutes back to the store to show them the molded pie. Shockingly, none of the pies or cakes have a “created date” or a “do not eat past” date — very unsafe!
When refunding my money, they charged me again instead. I asked to speak to the manager, and someone pointed me to Umar. He was VERY RUDE, dismissive, and simply said “sorry bye” like my concern didn’t matter. I asked if they could offer anything complimentary considering I wasted my time and gas trying to make things right — again, he said “sorry bye” and completely brushed me off.
To make it worse, when I asked for the REAL manager’s name, he refused to tell me. Horrible, unprofessional customer service! I will NEVER go here again. I’m calling the Maryland Health Department first thing in the morning. Places like this should NOT be allowed to sell food to the public. BEWARE!!!

Hip Hop is a franchise in the DMV, honestly I have never been amazed with the food its average at best. With so many locations I thought that a few were just not good but let me tell you it’s kinda a waste of money. It’s plenty of room for improvement at this place. Now if you’re hungry and just need something real quick it’s cool but it’s better chicken & fish spots in the area.

I love a good fish and chips. So, I had high expectations after seeing the reviews. Order came in a timely manner and was correct. Upon opening the box, I was concerned because it was sweating due to the heat, but the fish was still crispy and flaky. However, the fish was not well seasoned and still had the sea water taste to it. Which you’ll get if the fish is not marinated, soaked in milk, and/or citrus is not used to cut the taste. It’s not my preference in taste, and some people don’t mind; however, it’s a hit or miss with seafood eatery. But when the fries tasted like fish, too…. this led me to believe the same fryer was used for raw fish and fries. Which is concerning for people with allergies. I’ll try again because I love supporting small businesses. I’ll just wait a little.

I always ride pass this place, but decided to stop. I had chicken tenders and a waffle. It was good. Other customers ordered fish, chicken and other side items. I will have to check them out somemore and try some additional items.

The food tasted okay. The wings were very small and wre good but, looked like they came from a bird, not a chicken. The french fries were a little salty. The service was good and the staff was pleasant and food was hot.

I ordered the two sandwich and fry combo I was really impressed with their fish sandwich. It was large, crispy, and very tasty. It was served on a potato bun with pickles and sauce.
The chicken sandwich came with two big strips of chicken, coleslaw, pickles And served on a potato bun. I thought it was tasty as well, but preferred the fish sandwich.
The fries were just ok and a bit too soggy and soft for my liking. My daughter got the mac & cheese and she said it was also just OK.
The star of the meal was definitely the fish sandwich .
The physical building looked rough, and could use some sprucing up. The tables looked clean enough, and there was plenty of room to eat during peak meal hours. The staff was friendly.

I was upset about my food. My catfish nuggets were slimy and my fries taste like fish. Taste like they cook everything in the same grease. My cousin chicken taste like fish. We won’t be going back.

I’m guilty… The name reeled me in. (Lol, get it?) Unfortunately the name and sign are the best things about this place. The fish and chicken was crispy, but lacked flavor. The fries were equal parts oil and potatoes. Plenty of food for the value though. The customer service was just what I expected it would be when I walked in the door of an establishment with Hip Hop on the sign.
I was told not to visit this location, but did it anyway because it was close to the base. I’ll learn to listen one day.

A good friend purchased a 2-pc catfish w/fries and a 2-pc whiting w/fries. I tried both. Catfish tasted much better. Whiting tasted odd – was darker than whiting should be, looked & tasted mushy (see pics). Was inedible. The batter they use on both fish & fries has a slight chewy texture, so depends on one’s taste & preference.
