Rob, our waiter was absolutely fantastic. He was friendly, on top of everything, and an absolute joy. We would come back just for the service. The food was great too. Got the lingonberry crepes, absolutely delicious.

A bit on the pricey side but our food was tasty. The kids menu was good & coloring book / colors great. We had the crab eggs benedict & the German pancake (pictured, which was HUGE). Service was friendly. I waited at our table to pay the ticket only to find out after walking to the front that we paid up front. Time wasted there, but overall a good experience.

Review of Elmer’s Restaurant – Portland, Oregon

Elmer’s has a long history of serving up home-style breakfasts since 1960, and their commitment to a welcoming atmosphere is evident as soon as you step inside. On my Monday morning visit, I was seated immediately upon arrival, which was a pleasant start to my experience. The restaurant was clean, and the staff was friendly and attentive. My server arrived promptly, offering to take my order right away or give me more time if needed.

I ordered a basic breakfast of eggs and sausage with fruit on the side, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The meal felt like a homemade breakfast in the best way—comforting, well-prepared, and satisfying. The biscuit was perfect, with just the right texture, and the apple sausage was amazing, packed with flavor.

As I looked through the menu, I did notice that prices seemed a bit high for what was being offered. Additionally, the menu leaned heavily toward large, hearty meals, with fewer options for smaller portions or health-conscious choices.

While the atmosphere didn’t quite match the warm, homey experience described on their website—possibly due to this location being attached to a hotel—the food absolutely did. The quality and flavor of my meal reflected the restaurant’s long-standing commitment to made-from-scratch favorites.

Overall, if you’re looking for a classic diner-style breakfast with friendly service and well-prepared food, Elmer’s is a solid choice. Just be prepared for slightly higher prices and a menu that caters more to traditional, hearty appetites.

The venue is very pleasant. Well designed for privacy. The food is good. I ordered the potato cakes, with beacon. Good flavor on the cakes (contained potatoes, onion, green onion, beacon). It included apple sauce, 3 strips of beacon, and egg to order

The coffee was fair, but then again, I’m kind of a coffee snob. Also had orange juice. It came with pulp and tasted like freshly made.

The service was attentive and food was delivered quickly.

This restaurant had decent food. Not what I would say top tier, but still a not so bad place to eat. The service was good our server was very pleasant and did her job with a smile on her face. The cashier was polite and professional as well. The atmosphere was comfortable and spacious. I would recommend this restaurant as a place to host larger party’s for dinner, lunch, or breakfast. Handicap friendly, kid friendly…

Very good pancakes. The bacon wasn’t quite as crispy as I’d like it but still yummy. The scrambled eggs were cooked just right. Friendly and attentive service and the place was clean. Food came quickly and was fresh and hot and nicely presented.

We’re back!
We come here whenever we visit our cousins and stay in the same hotel.
How cool is it to walk from your hotel, Four Points by Sheraton, to this awesome restaurant?
I had the cinnamon roll pancakes, and it was scrumptious.
Our waiter was awesome, and everyone had a smile on their faces that said, “I love working here.” I am big on customer service, and this is surely a huge factor of good management.

Elmer’s is absolutely excellent. As far as restaurants go it is excellent the cost was good I’ve had food there for breakfast that I didn’t even know existed. And it was awesome. Definitely definitely definitely recommend going there. Did I say definitely, well I meant definitely. Never had a German pancake before, never had stuffed hash browns. But man were they good.
