This was our favorite meal in Maine! This unassuming, humble cafe is cranking out some of the best food we’ve ever had! We came around 1pm on a Monday and while the place was packed, we were able to get seated at the counter fairly quick! Staff was friendly and our server was Kim and she was such a delight! Very attentive and we never went long without a refill on our drinks!

Both my husband and I ordered the Haddock Sandwich with cheese and chips. This was simply the greatest bite of food we had in all of Maine! The in house bakery brioche bun was buttery and soft, the fish was pan fried to perfection and the Tatar sauce and cheese added a tangy zip to the sandwich that made you want more and more. It was the perfect fish sandwich. We also got a blueberry pancake to share and it was fluffy and sweet with real Canadian maple syrup on the side. This thing was packed with blueberries!

The whole menu is whimsical and fun and everything sounded good. It was hard to choose what to eat but I think we made the right choice.

The iced coffee was strong and they had almond milk available! Restaurant was clean and cozy. Bathrooms are clean and well stocked. This was a wonderful stop on our travels and I will think about that sandwich for a long long time!

I am so glad we stopped in here for breakfast. The menu is large but it has themes that are really nice. They are super friendly and very helpful staff. Our food was absolutely fantastic.
They were busy but they turn over tables quickly.
The sticky buns were delicious even though I got them to go. My breakfast burrito was fantastic. The home fries were some of the best I’ve ever had.

This place is absolutely incredible! After reading so many glowing reviews, we had to check it out—and it did not disappoint. Even on a rainy Saturday, the place was packed. We waited about 20–30 minutes for a seat, but it was well worth it. We ended up at the counter, which turned out to be super comfortable and a great spot to take it all in.

The staff was warm and attentive, and the menu? Huge. There’s something for everyone—plenty of vegetarian options with protein like tofu, and some really creative dishes (the tofu bánh mì was a standout!). They also bake fresh bread daily and offer delicious homemade treats like muffins and cinnamon rolls that are hard to resist.

I honestly haven’t stopped raving about this place since we visited. The cozy, charming decor and relaxed atmosphere made it an experience as much as a meal. Can’t wait to go back!!

Perfect quintessential East Coast Harbor Restaurant, in fact, the LLBean boot car drove by while we were there! Want to eat blueberry pancakes while in Maine, this is the place. They are delicious! Not super big, but full of flavor. Cost is up there for the size but very yummy. I ordered a side of bacon which was good but $5. So plan to spend some money. All served with homemade maple syrup. A lot of people were ordering pastries, so we got a cinnamon roll and pecan roll to go, worth it!

We stopped at Home Kitchen Cafe during a recent trip to Rockland and had such a great experience. They don’t take reservations, and there were a few parties ahead of us (it’s a popular spot, especially on weekends), but the space inside is pretty big, so we only waited about 10–15 minutes.

The menu was massive, especially for lunch — everything from biscuits and gravy to burgers, omelets, pancakes, you name it. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy after seeing all the rave reviews, and it did not disappoint. The portion was huge, it was so flavorful, and the biscuit (homemade, like the rest of their stuff!) was incredible.

I got the huevos rancheros, which were good, just not exactly what I was in the mood for. It leaned a little too “healthy” for me that morning, and the sauce + beans combo made the dish a little too soupy. Still tasty, but I definitely had some food envy. We also ordered a side of the herby potatoes and a cinnamon bun, both of which were delicious, especially those potatoes. And the coffee was strong!

The restaurant was bright and lively, and the staff just seemed genuinely happy to be there. Our server was amazing — super friendly, on top of everything, and constantly refilling our coffee without us having to ask. We’d absolutely come back next time we’re in Rockland.

Exactly the breakfast I was hoping for!!!! My photo doesn’t do it justice (bacon looks overdone in the photo but it was actually perfectly cooked).
The day before, we had had a dismal breakfast elsewhere and I was dying for a good old classic eggs and bacon with toast (which the place the day before did not do right). Home Kitchen Cafe hit a home run!!!
The eggs and bacon were spot on, hot, tasty, yummy. The server suggested a bakery item which we hardly ever do but we opted for one pancake and it was the BEST pancake I’ve ever had, and that was even before I put butter and syrup on it! I’ve never used so many exclamation points in a review!!
Everyone from hostess to server was friendly and efficient. And the prices were reasonable. I’d come here every day if I could. Thank you Home Kitchen Cafe for feeding us exactly the home cooked breakfast we were looking for!!!

Service and food are excellent!
Blueberry pancakes were best we’ve had on our Maine vacation. Get the corned beef hash. Just trust me on this one.

Beautiful patio with fresh herbs.
