Had a wonderful dining experience at Woodlands Veg Restaurant. The place has a pleasant ambiance and is a great spot for vegetarian food lovers. The hospitality was warm and welcoming, and the service was attentive. The food tasted fresh and had a comforting home-style flavor. Overall, a nice place for a relaxed vegetarian meal. Highly recommended!

We were a group of 4 who spontaneously went for dinner. One of us is a vegeterian and we had to choose this but we were pleasantly surprised
We got appetizers, main course and dessert.
We got the Gobi Manchurian, pani puri, Spring dosa, Idli Vada, Biryani, Kulfi, Mango juice, madaras coffee and salted lassi amongst the 4 of us. The quantity isn’t extremely high but it gave us an opportunity to try a larger variety.
According to my taste the food was more tangy than spicy but they gave good chutneys for the spice. everything looked and tasted fresh.
From what we ordered, the pani puri was very refreshing, Idli wada was really nice, and all of the beverages we tried were perfect. Special mention for the Madras coffee ❤️
Must try once, at least once

Had a great dine-in experience at Woodland. The seating was comfortable, and the restaurant had a clean, welcoming vibe. Service was quick and friendly, and the owner made sure guests felt at home. The food was fresh— especially loved the gol kappas, mox pakora, dal makhni, cholay, and aloo palak and chutneys. It can get a bit crowded during peak hours, but the staff handled it well. The moment u walk in to walkout, very welcoming environment, great customer service, owner is very humble and friendly.
Its a must try.

Once upon a time, this place used to be fancy and had wonderful decor, wonderful food, water served in actual glasses and reasonable customer service. That is when Woodlands was at its peak era.

That is sadly no longer the case here. The quality of service has signficantly fallen. One of the managers keeps pestering me about my personal life every single time I go there and it makes me uncomfortable. He even emotionally surveils me and keeps asking me to “smile” if I am trying to relax and I just want to eat food! I don’t have the biggest appetite but the guy keeps pressuring me to eat food constantly–even when I am not hungry!! I don’t care how long I have known this guy for a while but I find it highly inappropriate and disturbing!! I am constantly made to feel uncomfortable. It begs a question: why is he constantly pulling up a chair and talking as if he was a customer rather than doing his own job?? The other guy who has been here a long time is fine and civil and does his job well. Not sure if he is a manager though.

And during the last visit, I ordered rasam and idlis and specifically asked for the idlis on the side. The other waiter brought over my dish with the idlis soaked in the bowl of rasam. I specifically said that I asked for the idlis on the side–and the man blames me for his own mistake saying that I was wasting food!!! He was so so horrid and rude!!! The level of service was absolutely atrocious and appalling!!! I mean you can’t blame me for his incompetence.

Many other places that serve Indian veg don’t subject their customers to such treatment. Not sure why I am singled out but I will be avoiding this place.

A Delightful Indian Culinary Experience at Woodlands!

Our visit to Woodlands was an exceptional dining experience that left us thoroughly satisfied. Here’s a breakdown of our delightful meal:

Appetizers:
– Pani Puri: These perfect little bite-sized treats were a refreshing start to our meal. Crisp and flavorful, they were a hit with everyone.
– Sambar Vada: The crispy medu vada soaked in sambar was simply divine. Each bite was a perfect blend of textures and flavors.
– Mango Lassis: Creamy and refreshing, the mango lassis were the perfect accompaniment to our appetizers.

Entrees:
– Chole Bhatura: The puffy bhatura paired with the flavorful chole was an absolute delight. The dish was rich, hearty, and satisfying.
– Uttapam: The uttapam was soft and savory, garnished with little pieces of vegetables and cilantro, and served with sambar and three different chutneys. Each bite was a burst of flavors.
– Thali:This was a highlight of our meal. An assortment of eight dishes, including one main entree of our choice, was served. The variety and richness of flavors were incredible. We ended the thali with the sweet and satisfying payasam, which was the perfect finish.
– Dosa: The dosa had just the right balance of crispy and soft, served with sambar and chutneys. It was simply delicious.

Beverages:
– We finished our meal with the aromatic Madras coffee and cardamom-spiced teas. Both were the perfect end to our sumptuous meal, leaving us with a warm and comforting feeling.

Service:
The service at Woodlands was outstanding – attentive, quick, and friendly. The staff ensured that we had everything we needed and made our dining experience even more enjoyable.

Woodlands provided an authentic and delightful Indian dining experience. The service was excellent, and the ambiance was warm and inviting. We will definitely be returning to savor more of their delicious offerings!

Excellent Pure Vegetarian South Indian food. Very good customer service and display of food. Enjoyed the ambiance, but mandir songs were not expected in the restaurant, but it was not bad.

Excellent South Indian restaurant, with a tranquil atmosphere. Food is outstanding, fresh, and carefully prepared. Clean and bright flavors, without any excess oil to muddle them. Highly recommend.

I was told by many of my VA friends to try this place. Last week I got an opportunity to visit the same.

Food is fantastic. Kids loved it as well.

Idli Dosa puri Wada all has the authentic taste. Wada may have been over done but was not bad.

My family and I have been coming here regularly for 18 years. We know the staff personally. However I cannot excuse the behavior we saw this past weekend. My Grandfather requested an extra bowl of sambar (something we’ve done in visits past) and they refused. On top of that when they did give it, it was for extra charge on the receipt (6 DOLLARS). They’ve NEVER charged for one or two more bowls of sambar for us. Owner was rude and I don’t recommend going. This is not the same Woodlands that it used to be. Please reconsider if you plan on taking your family to this establishment.

This is the best South Indian vegetarian restaurant in the DC metro area. There is not once we did not like something. Everything here is delicious, our personal favorites are Idly, dosa, vada, pongal, bisibelebath, yogurt rice (must must try as they have a unique way of making it), paneer dosa (any dosa for that matter), mirchi bajji (they have the stuffed version – very authentic), I can go and on and on about what I like, to simply put it, we love everything here. So if you are curious to try South Indian food, you must start your journey here. Lastly don’t forget the filter coffee.
