Tried Anjappar Chettinad Indian Restaurant, Dublin ( large group – 8 kids, 6 Adults )and really enjoyed the food. The soups and starters ( 3 veg starters – Chilli paneer, Gobi 65 ) were full of flavour and even the kids loved them. The dosa was excellent, the paneer curry was spot on, and the filter coffee was a nice way to end the meal.
Service was good and staff were friendly, though the food took a bit longer to come out than expected something hungry kids weren’t too happy about. Overall, great food and we’re planning a second visit soon.

Took a while for our orders to be taken by staff but food came quickly. Starters (chilli paneer & Gobi 65) were splendid! Would have loved a lime slice for the Gobi 65 on top of the onions. Parotta was super! Very soft and easily tearable. Methi roti was generously filled with methi leaf sprinkles but I wasn’t able to get a strong methi flavour. Kadai paneer was slightly disappointing. The flavours were good but it seemed like the cooking process was rushed as the onion and tomato pieces were still slightly raw in taste and texture. Paneer used was great quality though. Nannari sarbath was refreshing with a mild amount of soda, just as I preferred. There was another nannari sarbath soda item that we didn’t order so I’m not sure how different these 2 drinks are.

Love that there were Tamil songs playing! The tables are rather close to each other but the decor is well-planned. Have to rate the atmosphere a 2 for the toilets. There wasn’t a handwashing sink at the ground floor so we had to use the toilet sink to wash hands. It was the nastiest one I’ve ever seen in Ireland unfortunately 🙁 wish it was properly maintained by staff and customers alike especially given there’s no other hand-washing areas.

We visited in big group and ordered a variety of dishes. There were few good dishes but everything else was very bad. Chicken Lollypop, Mori Moru Chicken Fry Paneer Chilli, Kesari Special, Chapati were good but everything else was not good. Chicken Chilli was sweet. Special Anjappar Chicken and Chicken Chettinad smelled like lamb. Chettinad Chicken Dum Biryani was more like masala rice with some chicken in it. Very dry.

The whole place gives me very Nostalgic vibe,
The interiors are majorly wooden and has a very homely vibes.
I went on a Saturday, and we got the sitting immediately, the food also arrived very quick.
I called for the Mutton Biryani & Chicken Kuthu Parota, both of them are 10/10.

One of the best places in dublin to have authentic south Indian dishes, especially Chettinad Cuisine. All your dishes took me back to my college days in Tamil Nadu.

I would like to appreciate your management for the training you gave your staff, which was extremely welcoming. And they were very helpful on detailing the menu and the portions of each dishes..

Eventhough there were few dishes unavailable when I went, the dishes I tried was extremely superb. I should say the Chicken mulaka soup was brilliant and the biriyani also tastes so nice and spicy. And I loved the Mutton varutha curry and porotta with it. Ghee roast & Mutton Virundhu Dosa was top notch. And the Jigruthanda was also amazing. And your ambience is so cool…

I would like to visit you again & again❤️❤️❤️

This restaurant is strategically located and definitely has the potential to attract a lot of footfall. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t quite live up to the expectations.

From the start, many of the items we asked for were unavailable, which was disappointing. When we inquired about the fish curry, we were told it was served at lunch and they’d need to “check with the chef” — in hindsight, that should’ve been a sign. What was eventually served felt more like leftovers, with a very small portion that didn’t justify the price.

One of the more surprising moments was being charged $3 for a tiny bowl of plain rice, especially since most restaurants serve rice complimentary with curry dishes. The garlic naan was tough and lacked softness, making it far from enjoyable. The Chettinad chicken curry didn’t resemble anything close to what you’d find in India — it was another letdown.

That said, there were a couple of redeeming dishes:
✅ The chicken kotthu paratha was flavorful and satisfying, especially with the curry it came with.
✅ The biryani wasn’t the best in terms of flavor, but the meat was well-cooked, and the portion size was fair — unlike many of the other items.
✅The best filter coffee in town but that is also because dairy in Ireland is the best.

To end the meal, we tried a staff-recommended dessert, Jigarthanda, which unfortunately didn’t feel worth the price or hype.

All in all, this place might have promise, but inconsistencies in availability, portion size, and quality really impacted our experience. Hopefully, they take this feedback seriously and work on turning things around.

We visited Anjappar on Sunday and had such a lovely experience. Lokesh, who took our order, was incredibly sweet and attentive he made us feel really welcome from the start. We ordered the fried rice and mutton sukka, and both dishes were packed with flavor. The mutton sukka especially was rich, well-spiced, and cooked perfectly tender and full of authentic South Indian taste. The fried rice complemented it really well. And the desserts. The jigarthanda and falooda were absolutely amazing, refreshing, indulgent, and the perfect way to end the meal. Great food, warm service, and a really enjoyable overall experience. Will definitely be coming back

We decided to try this restaurant after hearing so much of this most talked about South Indian restaurant in Dublin. The food is good, but not as good as the hype that this place has. The menu is huge with a variety of options, so we were really excited to try it out. We started off with filter coffee which was great so our hopes went up really high. Then I ordered the chef’s spl ghee podi dosa – not impressed at all with the dosa or the chutneys. My friends ordered Chicken Chettinad biryani and chicken 65 biryani. Both were good but not wow, little dry. My kid had the chocolate dosa. Its good to see this item on the menu but its literally chocolate syrup on the plain dosa, could innovate a little bit. I wanted to try the medu vada as well, but that had finished off, typical of most Indian restaurants here. Finally we tried the jigarthanda which was okay. All in all okay not wow. The ambiance is good and the service is okay.

Fantastic authentic South Indian Chettinad food in Ireland. Amazing service, we went after a week of its opening. Got our food delivered within few minutes of order. Fish fry was the best. Chettinad chicken curry felt home made. Not too spicy, kids enjoyed the food. Highly recommended and we will be visiting very often.
