Here’s my take on this locals secret:
We came in, excited about what we had heard, and sat down.
The place was a bit unorganized, our table was backed against a pool table but we were stull hopeful.
The waitress was nice and took our drink orders.
She later brought our drinks but forgot two.
We reminded her when she took our food order.
For my burger she asked if I wanted everything on it: mayo, mustard, lettuce, pickles and grilled jalapeños. I said yes. That sounded great.
We ended up waiting for 45 minutes.
Two of our drinks still hadn’t arrived.
I looked around and no one that came around the same time as us weren’t being served either.

Finally, our food arrived.
My burger didn’t have any of those items and had pickled jalapeños, which i don’t like.
We reminded the waitress that brought our food ( a different one) of our drinks not arriving.
10 minutes later a man came to check on us and we told him and he brought them right away.

I don’t know if this was an off day or constant.
The burgers were just OK and very small, especially for their price.
The egg was a nice touch.
The fries were not great.
The shakes were decent.
The soda was good.
Overall, based on my experience and the taste of the food, I won’t be returning and I cant recommend visiting here.

Don’t believe the hype.
I’ve had better burgers in this town.

Owl was suggested by our rafting tour group, Lost Paddle. No frills, just really good burgers. They were right. We had a huge group and got singles to triple cheeseburgers! Yes, a few of us got an egg. The shakes were good and the fries were soft and hot. They had ketchup and Louisiana on the table. I mixed the 2 to season the fries. Match made in heaven!

Came here upon the recommendation of our tour guide from Arkansas river tours. Great little place for burgers, fries and shakes at a decent price. Very simple. Ketchup, mustard, pickle, and onion. No lettuce or tomato. Service was quick. Then you just go up to pay and tell them what you had and they find your ticket. Takes both cash and credit.

If your looking for a 5 star place with great food, great atmosphere and service, this is it. The Owl was purchased in 1903 and had remained in the family every since. Great little, locally owned place to get great hamburgers and enjoy the company. Highly recommend coming here if you are ever in Cañon City.

This was a gem find. Reminds me of an old diner with prices to match. The burgers are so good and cooked to order. Our waitress was in good spirits and we enjoyed the banter.

Older than dirt, CañonCity classic café/ burger joint. Ask for the DoubleDouble.
Small Town charm with great helpful staff.

The best little burgers, excellent fresh fries, and service that is top notch. We sat at the bar, and the waitress, although super busy, chatted with us while she was making malts. This is a delightful, place to grab a delicious burger.

This has a cool vibe and if you want a good wholesome burger, this is the place to be! One thing that shocked me was how cheap the price burgers were.

Stumbled upon this relic of a place. We had to take a double look but the aroma of food outside made our decision to venture inside.

This place was packed full of locals and tourists. This IS NOT a fast food place.

In speaking with our waitress she said this diner was established in 1909 and remodeled in 1947 and again in 1981. She’s not sure of the original name but as you look around, walls covered in original signed pictures from well known visitors like the rat pack, Elvis and quite a few others, trophy deer mounts and HUGE trout, old license plates and in the back there’s an abundance of pool
tables.

We got the double, double, crispy fries and home brewed tea. Took 40 minutes to get our food. The double burger was small considering but packed full of flavor. Reminded me of the white castle burger taste.

What an odd name for a small diner. Don’t let the name fool you.

Most of the stools and counters and tables are well dated.

Be sure to walk in, you won’t be disappointed.

We tried this place after speaking with several locals. We tried two burgers/egg and one order of fries. The burger was on the plain side or as the staff say old fashioned, and the fries we received were apparently reheated too many times because the fries were so over cooked that they were hollow and dry. We enjoyed the burgers for what they were.
