We have been coming to this amazing Mexican restaurant for years! Great food and great service. Today I had the pozole and the husband had the tacos al pastor and of course the chips w/ guacamole and salsa. They have an amazing salsa station so you can get as spicy and as much as you want!!

This was better than any Mexican food I’ve ever had in Canada. The ingredients are fresh, simple, beautifully prepared, and presented. The best pa heart is the most experienced where all of the flavors combined to dance on your tongue to give you layer after layer of mouth bliss. The mole is dark and full flavouured. The corn tortillas are the thinnest I’ve had yet wouldn’t tear. The service was warm and friendly, and the establishment itself is clean and efficient but still welcoming and cozy. If I’m ever in Seattle again, I will be back here.

By the shimmering threads of the culinary tapestry, La Carta de Oaxaca weaves a potent enchantment! The aromas that waft forth are nothing short of alchemical, transforming humble ingredients into dishes of pure magic. The very essence of Oaxaca seems captured within their walls, a palpable energy that warms the spirit. The ministrations of the servers were swift and knowing, as if guided by unseen forces. And the food! Each bite was a revelation, a journey into flavors both ancient and wondrous. Five stars, certainly, for this haven of earthly delights touched by something truly special.

Good authentic Oaxacan food and great service. Prices are very reasonable. We had the Oaxacan pizza and lamb dish, they were both really delicious. Portions are big, especially the pizza. We paid around $25 per person. Parking could be challenging here. I highly recommend trying this restaurant if you like Mexican flavors.

It’s a great place! The food is so yummy even though the flavor is still a little different from what I had in Oaxaca, Mexico.
Recommend to try the pozole, it’s so good! And they are generous, they give a lot of pork and hominy in the soup. Their tacos are the best!! Definitely try the Taco Al Pastor! Delicious!
Their lunch menu and dinner menu are different. I’d love to try their lunch menu someday~

The food here was pretty good. We tried the guac and chips, lamb birria, chicken mole, and tacos al pastor. My favorite dish was the tacos but everything was pretty good. I feel they give too many chips for the amount of guac though. The tacos, mole, and lamb were all a bit sweet which I liked, but it seems some people don’t enjoy that. Overall I might come back again for the pork tacos.

I’ve been going here since I was little and never once have I had a bad experience with the staff, the food, allergy issues, seating or anything else you could dream of. I genuinely challenge you to find a bad item on the menu
It gets a little loud sometimes when it’s packed but if you ask you can always be seated in the much quieter back or even outside in the summer.
This is genuinely my favorite restaurant ever and I though I might as well give a review now that I’m moving away lol

Was not expecting this mole to blow my mind, but it is legit. The meat cut with a spoon, the tortillas (corn, that looked, behaved and felt like flour) we phenomenal and the quesadilla was the perfect blend of crispy tortilla and melting cheese. This is a must for anyone who needs a taste of Oaxaca this far north.

La Carta De Oaxaca is a downtown Ballard staple and has been my families go-to Mexican restaurant for my entire life.
The atmosphere is casual and cheery, and has remained for as long as I can remember.
I praise this restaurant for their delicious homemade salsas, tortillas, and guacamole; as well as their speciality mole dish (which is great with both the chicken or pork option.)
