Had the Door County fish boil experience here and the crowds are big so be sure to call in advance for a reservation spot. The boil itself was interesting and cool to see. The food itself was okay — everything could’ve used more seasoning and flavor. The fish was fresh and had great texture. The rest was fine and the bread was very dry and uneaten for the most part. The cherry pie for dessert was very good with an excellent crust.

Really tasty fish paired with an unfortunate preparation method (fish boil). It really tastes like just plain fish with some butter. The show is fun at least, though I felt the presenter was somewhat disengaged during the presentation.

A great experience! They talk you through the process, answer any questions and then let you eat the fish. Fish was delicious, just watch out for the bones!!

We stopped in on a Sunday, late morning for breakfast. The food and service were just average. Possibly below average if you take into account that I had to send my over easy eggs back for being greatly undercooked. The gluten-free toast, which they warned me, was made in their regular toaster, was incredibly dry. I believe it was Shaar (from my own experience), which is incredibly dry when toasted. The corned beef hash is home made, and very flavorful. The service and atmosphere were just run-of-the-mill. I would not recommend this restaurant over most others in the area.

Classic fish boil, if visiting Door County, you need to hit a fish boil. Pelletier’s may be the most popular, great food.

We ate here 3 times during our 5 day trip. Their breakfast is awesome and for a good price! We of course had to go to a fish boil which was also great! We can’t wait to come back next year!

We went to the traditional fish boil. It was very entertaining and informative. I had the boiled fish and it was good but I saw other people had ordered off the menu and their food looked great. The fish dish came free drink and the most excellent cherry pie for dessert

Fish boils and Door County are synonymous with one another and when visiting the area we decided it was a must do. We decided to give Pelletier’s a go as this was one of the only fish boils open later. Please note that this review is regarding the fish boil dinner only.
The boil presentation was fantastic, interesting, exciting, and fun. The cook was great at demonstrating the process and giving information about the peninsula.
The atmosphere was great and added to the experience. The seating was an issue as most of the outdoor seating is taken early and the stragglers will have to eat inside.
The food was tasty, but I had a few issues besides taste. First, I bit into the fish and was greeted with many tiny bones. Half the time spent eating was picking out the bones! One should be careful when eating the fish. I also understand that it is common knowledge that fish have bones…Second, we definitely did not get enough to eat. For those like myself that have a large appetite, I would suggest eating a snack before or after the dinner. The cherry pie at the end made us feel better though.
The service was okay. Our server was busy eating their own meal while we sat there with unfilled drinks, etc…
In all, you should definitely do a fish boil if you have never participated in one on the peninsula. If you decide on Pelletier’s, take note of what I mentioned. I will probably skip the fish boil next time.

On our first visit to Door County, we have been told by a number of people and websites that attending a fish boil is one of the top things to do on the peninsula. After asking around, we kept hearing about Pelletier’s, and we’re glad we chose it.

The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Regan, who runs the cash register and works at the bar, is a stitch! She told us to arrive an hour before dinner time, and we’re glad we did. Out back, set against the most amazing backdrop, is the cooking area. It takes about an hour to prepare each meal, and you can watch the entire process as it happens. When it’s complete, they take it inside and plate your meals for you. They do this at least three times a night. If the weather is nice, I would recommend eating outside around the cooking area on their patio.

The result is some wonderfully delicious fish and veggies. The single fillet was more than enough for my wife and daughter, and after the two piece meal, I was stuffed silly. They have other meals, including pork, ribs, and hamburgers, that are prepared separately from the fish boil. Each dinner is accompanied by a non-alcoholic beverage and tasty cherry pie dessert.

(Do be careful, these are not finally boned fillets. There are bones, lots of them. They’re not difficult to find and remove, but you can’t just gulp it down without paying attention. If you have little kids with you, pay special attention to their meals.)

Overall, the experience was delicious and comes recommended.
