I ordered the sashimi regular, calamari appetizer, sake, mango sticky rice, and vegetable spring rolls. The sashimi was pretty good — fresh and nicely presented. The calamari was a bit bland and could use more seasoning. The vegetable spring rolls were actually really good — I especially liked the mushrooms inside; they added great flavor and texture.

The mango sticky rice was okay, but I wish there was more mango and a little less sticky rice. The mango slices were quite thin, and the rice was a bit too sweet for my taste.

They have several sake options, and the Nigori was smooth and slightly sweet — definitely worth trying.

The restaurant itself is a bit small, and the interior could use a bit more work, but it’s a nice spot to dine with friends or hang out casually. It’s also great for larger groups — we had about 10 people, and they were able to seat us all together comfortably.

The staff was friendly and helpful, and the service overall was very good. Prices are quite reasonable for the quality and portion sizes.

One thing I really liked is the variety — they serve Thai, Chinese, and Japanese dishes. It might not be the most authentic restaurant, but it’s perfect for groups with different tastes since everyone can find something they like.

Sweet Mango in Southington, CT has a little NYC Asian vibe going on inside. Service was very friendly. Food was really good ***but*** was mostly cold. Mushroom soup good, but lukewarm. Hibachi Shrimp and Hibachi Steak and Salmon are both big servings with great vegetables and fried rice, but again cold. Issue seems to be plating food on cold dishes. Food tasted great, could be 5 stars with hotter food.

Honestly it pains me to write a bad review but without failure this place makes me feel sick after eating the sushi. They have great ideas but the quality is not worth 3 stars

Maybe I’m just agitated because my poor kiddo is starving, but I’m sitting here with her 22 minutes past the estimated pickup time, which is bringing our total wait time from when the order was placed to almost an hour. It’s not even CRAZY busy. I understand food service is stressful and hectic, but this feels obnoxious. And the lady at the register wasn’t very pleasant when I first came in to pay. (I’m always very friendly and polite, I know how hard people in the service industry work.) You can imagine how much nicer she was when I addressed the wait. James, if you ever read this… I know how much you love reading reviews from people while they’re still in the establishment.

I’ll update about the sushi when we eventually get it, I guess. As of right now, I’m not impressed. If the food sucks, too… If I could give zero stars… I would!

Update: The food was excellent, so I have increased the rating slightly. I probably still won’t come back here unless I’m out of other options. Of course I got a nicer demeanor when she handed me the food (and a “honey” or “sweetie”, and possibly even an apology), probably because she saw me leaving a review.

Further edit: I’ve been back a few times with no issues (dining in) so I guess they were just having a bad night when I first came here. Food has always been fantastic. I suggest the Harvest Roll if you like apples! Drinks are good too, their signature drink “The Sweet Mango” is my new favorite cocktail.

On A Positive Note: I’ve dined here on two prior occasions.

Today, I was seated at the bar. The bar is rather high for the seats. Nonetheless, my hibachi shrimp was tasty and well sauced. I didn’t need to use the mustard or the ginger sauce. The server was very attentive. She cleared my soup and salad bowls immediately after I finished each of them. However, she did not offer to refill my water.

The Verdict: Great food and service. I deducted one star from the atmosphere due to the awkwardness of the bar height in comparison to the stool. I’m 5’ 7”. I would dine here again- just not at the bar.

Great food! We had the shrimp shumai pan fried, and we tried the ichiban “salad”, and the fresh rolls (the ones with the clear rice wrappers). I had the Chilean sea bass special roll, and tried several others (Paradise, Golden Mango, Angel and fallen angel rolls). I highly recommend the Paradise roll, it had banana and lobster in it, what a great combination! I got a side order of Hibachi scallops -4 pieces for $11. Dessert was ok, the creme brulee (both the regular and the espresso one) were inexplicably warm in the center, and was missing the hard sugar top. The dessert with the mango, raspberry and white chocolate shell was WAY too bitter/sour to eat! The staff is very attentive and on top of their tables. I highly recommend the lychee sake!

BEST SUSHI I’VE EVER HAD, EASILY.
humongous portions (for fish these days!) for the value and spicy rolls are ACTUALLY spicy! i’ve been to quite of few asian fusion/sushi restaurants in the area and this spot easily takes the top seat. doesn’t get enough hype

in the last photos you can see the vibrance of the salmon and it’s freshness.
give this place some love!!

I’ve been here several times with my family . Great food . Pretty good prices . I’ve noticed thou we get a dull and un welcoming greeting and vibe . A couple left before us , the whole restaurant said bye have a good day . When me and my wife left it was crickets . I hope it wasn’t because my wife is of African descent. I pray they treat every person no matter what they date or where they come from good and with hospitality. Sad
