We had a wonderful meal from start to finish. We began with tuna and seabass sashimi, squid nigiri and takoyaki — all fresh, well prepared and full of flavour. For mains, the unadon and katsudon were comforting, generous and beautifully balanced.
Drinks were equally enjoyable: a hot flowering tea that brewed and opened at the table (a really lovely touch), sparkling water and Asahi 0%. For dessert, we shared a strawberry mochi and warm sake, and to top it all off, the staff surprised me with a free ice cream with a candle for my birthday, complete with a greeting written on the plate in both English and Japanese. A very thoughtful gesture.
The atmosphere is peaceful, the restaurant is tastefully decorated, and the staff were genuinely kind and welcoming throughout. The bill came to just over £90 including service charge, which felt very honest and fair for the quality and experience.
Highly recommended — we’ll definitely be back

Really good quality sushi especially for the price compared to others in the area. Friendly staff and efficient service. Would come back again.

Uramaki rolls (salmon avocado and tempura) and sashimi were very nice but smaller than expected.

Spicy salmon maki was okay. The siracha flavour was too strong for me.

Unbelievable authentic restaurant, the tea is a flower in a glass and tastes amazing. Traditional food at reasonable prices and a terrific experience.

Quiet and very polite staff, food comes quick and is very tasty and fresh. Been here years ago and it’s not changed except the food is still very fresh and varied. Try the sharing platter and add on a meat dish such as the chicken to add extra taste… the wine and beer was also very good. Two alcoholic drinks, sharing platter and a chicken dish for £45 INCLUDING service charge – can’t beat that!

From the moment we walked in, we were politely greeted into the elegant Japanese-style atmosphere. Our set menu meal was beautifully crafted so we could taste all aspects of Japanese food. The teriyaki salmon was fresh and packed with flavour. While the vegetable tempura melted in our mouths. The miso soup was rich and the perfectly cooked curried noodles were 10/10 (my favourite). All together made for a comforting and satisfying meal. Can’t forget to mention the presentation of the foods which showed the intricate beauty of Japanese cuisine, adding to our overall dining experience. We also appreciated the friendly and attentive service, which made our visit truly memorable! Thank you

This is a very large venue with plenty of seating, attentive waiting staff and a very nice Japanese vibe to it.

The food was very tasty, with the only gripe from me being that the spicy tuna maki were a little too spicy for me. However, that’s personal preference.

I can highly recommend both the tako and ika sashimi, as well as a the tonkatsu ramen and chicken gyoza, all of which were delicious.

The prices are reasonable too, but be aware that a service charge of 10% is included in the bill automatically, which is another bug bear of mine. Tipping should be optional. Stop putting it on the bill!

Totally authentic Japanese food with lovely (fake but pretty!) blossoms and decor ! They even have a tatami room if you fancy low seating! Menus varied we had karaage chicken / pumpkin croquette and tuna nigiri then pork ramen and teriyaki chicken and were full and very happy! Wasana is lovely as front of house ! We’ll be back -soon !

My partner and I have been to Manchester twice within the last couple of months for a break away for a couple of days, and we love eating out whilst away. So we thought we would give Samsi a try, and all we can say is, that it’s amazing!
As someone who doesn’t particularly eat sushi, I am willing to give anything a try, I’m a pescatarian, who doesn’t eat meat but eats fish, and the first time we went I had a vegetable Katsu curry, which was hands down, the BEST curry I have ever had! When we went last night I tried the Teryaki Salmon, and again….Phenomenal!
The staff are attentive, and nothing is too much trouble, and the manager ( I can’t remember her name!) is so so lovely, we sat talking to her for quite some time, always making sure everything is okay, checking we have drinks at all times, and this place really is brilliant.
If you are out and about in Manchester and love Japanese style food, we both highly recommend Samsi! Give it a go, I promise, you will not be disappointed
