We were in town and staying around the corner from Gen X Tavern and Wow is all I can say! We walked in and felt like we walked into the 80’s and 90’s. It was amazing! They had so much collectibles from that era all over. We were here on a Friday night and there was a DJ playing all the hits from that era. I wish we lived here to be able to come here all the time! We ordered some Jammin Goat balls and OMG we ordered a second order they were so good and exploding with flavor. We had dinner before coming here so weren’t hungry but after dancing had built a little bit of an appetite. I also ordered the cocktail but can’t remember the name but was way too sweet so ended up drinking tequila with club soda and lime for the rest of the night. DEFINITELY COMING BACK!!!

We may have been the only Gen Xer’s in the bar at the time but it was early. Wish we didn’t live so far away. This bar was so much fun. May have to book a room downtown just so we can come back and hang out all night. I even bought a green GenX Tavern “Top Gun” shirt that I love to wear all over Hernando and Citrus Counties! Xo

This place could be so fun and cute but it was so incredibly hot. We walked in and got drinks right away because it wasn’t busy but I knew why right away. It was hot and sticky and even felt moist inside. We got one round and left. I had heard good things about this place and was excited about the DJ night but we left just as soon as we finished our drinks. My hair was frizzing and it actually felt much much cooler in the restroom. I felt so bad for the workers who looked just as hot as us if not more so.
We hope this is just a one off and we can make it out to GenX again when the A/C is somewhat functional.

Cool retro bar located in downtime Tampa. Exploring the city and stumbled upon this spot. Self seating only so get there early. We found a seat at the bar and once again customer service in Tampa sucks Ay Yi Yi!!.. It took forever to be serviced.
We ordered a few drinks, Mediterranean sandwich and the sampler. EXPENSIVE is an understatement. $17 for a sandwich with no side is diabolical.
Music and vibes were overall pretty good! Food was subpar.

Go when they have the DJ there the music is definitely dance worthy and the vibes were so good. Servers are quick with taking orders and checking in. Drinks are pretty good as well we had the adult capri sun and the pop rocks drink

Great bar to hit while in Tampa! The bartenders are on point and they know how to make great drinks. Food is awesome and quick. There are TVs to watch and plenty of arcade games around to enjoy as well!

Great place for that 90s vibe. Live band on a Friday playing some very memorable music from my era.
Did the app trio of sliders, tendies with garlic Parm seasoning, and nachos and guac and they were all excellent. Also had an adult capri sun. They do rum or vodka varieties. The vodka capri sun was delicious and not too heavy on the sweetness.

GenX is a SPOT. Good service, I’ve seen the food, haven’t ordered anything, but hearing people to habe ordered, they were happy!!!! A variety of drinks, games, good music they do have different nights where they’re doing something different with the music and specials.

What a great find! After going to the bar a few doors up selling many different beer options we sat there for ages being ignored at the bar and decided to leave! Then found Gen X tavern!
Wish we had found it earlier as we then spent the next two nights of what was left of our holiday from the UK in there, great food and a good choice of drinks, the barman was top notch and on the ball the minute you walk in.
