Update: 9/20 I came back for brunch with my son, and he declared it the best brunch he’s ever had—and trust me, my 12-year-old has an exceptional palate. The food arrived hot and in a timely manner. Our server who was amazing recommended the mimosa flight, which was absolutely worth it. The highlight, though, was the cinnamon roll French toast—it was so good I ordered another to take home. This visit was an even better experience than before, and I’d easily give it a 10/10.
To drink, we had two of the mocktails which were delicious. Loved them. Wanted to mix them into one super drink but never did.
The first course was meant to be shared but only had three pieces?? Do they know 3 is not divisible by 2?
The ravioli was good but cold.
Scallops were the highlight (my only picture), but were unfortunately also cold.
My short rib was also cold. It came with a puree which I am not sure if it was some kind of squash or pumpkin, but it was phenomenal. Somehow the best part of the dish.
The dessert was a very nice chocolate mouse. Love it, left no crumbs.
Unfortunately, I am writing this review several weeks after my dinner so I do not remember every course.
Brunch here is a must, with creative plates that go beyond the usual basics, and dinner never disappoints either. The cocktail list is playful and well put together, perfect to enjoy alongside the skyline views.
What really sets Lokal apart is how versatile it is—you can come for a laid-back weekend brunch, a casual bite during the week, or a lively evening with friends. It’s a neighborhood spot with character, and I’m glad it’s right nearby.
My first visit we ordered the cinnamon croissant French toast and the local burger medium done. And oh man they were both equally amazing. Flavor was great and cooked perfectly for both. Also got the chicken and waffle that was fine. Food took a while but I don’t mind with the view.
As for the second visit, I ordered the local burger again (medium), the steak and eggs (medium as well), and the mascarpone pancakes. Didn’t live up to the first visit, not even close. Both the burger and steak were well-done if not very well-done in my opinion (pics included) and the pancakes were alright. Honestly mostly just disappointed with the cook level. And flavor wasn’t popping as it was before. I came back only a few weeks after bc I loved the initial visit but I think a lot of places have good and bad days. Servers were all very nice though!
However the service definitely falls short in this place. When we called to make reservation and requested no high top tables because of a toddler, they said: it’s first come first serve, we cannot guarantee anything. But isn’t that the point of making the reservation? So we can have a regular table due to our situation? Why if wheelchair customers make reservations?
When we arrived, of course they gave us a high top table. I plainly said, you guys will have to take the responsibility if something happened to the toddler.
Ordering food was no issue but I had to remind them to bring out the kid’s meal first. The food was actually decent. I liked the brunch burger. Meat was cooked beautifully and buns were buttery/fluffy.
The entire service, the kept reaching over the table to clean plates. One server asked my friend if she needed more water, she said yes and the server literally passed the water bottle to her to fill it up.
I really want to like this restaurant because it’s nice and clean and food is good. But I cannot get past the service part.
