Admit I hadn’t been into a Hoss’s Steak House for decades, but saw this one in State College and had to give it a try!
The visit brought back all the memories! This place is a blast from the past.
Still looks the same but very clean and well kept. Buffet provides so many options! Really didn’t even need to order dinners but went in for the whole experience! Soo much food. Steak dinners were very good and the limitless options offered at the buffet provided such a great value. The staff here is super attentive and friendly as well!

Excellent variety of soups every day; excellent temperature of soups. Salad bar is kept clean; items never run out. The same kind of pie is offered too many weeks; a more frequent change is needed. The music selections are pretty good, but the quality of the loudspeakers is poor; the sound is not clear, it’s distorted. We dine here often and will continue to do so.

I have never left a restaurant without tipping until I ate here. Our waitress (don’t know her name because she never introduced herself) was disappointing. She didn’t offer refills, didn’t check to see how we were doing, and when it was time for the check, she just dropped it on the table without saying anything. The food wasn’t great. Will not be going back here.

As a Traveling Chef/Culinarian , it is a pleasure to have the opportunity to eat at this quintessential establishment. This is a must if you are in the neighborhood. The customer service is hands down the best that I have experienced in a long time. Food selection is amazing there is something for everyone. For being a Saturday during what should be peak hours, it wasn’t really busy. Staff were either there when you didn’t need it or couldn’t be found when you needed them. One of my party members received a very bad crab that definitely should have not been served to anyone with how old it was, she got sick from it after one bite. The soup, salad, and nacho bar had some stuff that was long past it’s prime and not fresh. All in all I left disappointed.

I got the cleaver cut, thick cut 10 oz sirloin steak medium rare with fries and steamed broccoli and the soup, salad and dessert bar with my 19 dollar birthday voucher today. The steak was perfectly cooked, very thick as advertised and absolutely delicious. The soup, salad and dessert bar was fantastic as well. I had an amazing meal today. Highly recommend this restaurant for high quality food. The soup, salad and dessert bar will make you feel full for the rest of the day. Very satisfying!
