Sesame Inn restaurant and bar serves Chinese, Japanese, and Thai foods. For a few years, I have been a customer of Sesame Inn for delivery and for dining in.

Very tasty food with generous serving. Service is fine but can be further improved by more cheerfulness. Atmosphere is great: excellent decor, very nice table setting with linen table top and nice silver ware, very good location.

4.5 stars overall but there’s no option to give that. High value for the price.

Stopped in for lunch on a week day. Tried the chicken with garlic sauce lunch special and it was quite tasty. New location and decor felt modern and fresh. Waitress was polite and my food arrived quickly. I look forward to coming back again soon.

I admit a little bias with Sesame Inn, it’s been a special place for me since moving to Pittsburgh, regardless of where it’s located. The original off McKnight Road location was one of the places where my wife and I went to feel like we were a having a “fancy night out” when we were engaged and just skirting by in a one bedroom apartment. When we got married and had our rehearsal dinner, we coaxed my mother (who insisted on paying for the affair and also does not love Asian food of any kind) to have the get together at the original Sesame Inn, and I still remember the time spent with loved ones and the enjoyment that came from the Lazy Susan of many fresh dishes.

So when I saw they had moved to a new locale, I knew I had to eventually give it a try. I got the chance when my wife and I got a rare lunch date alone (young kids are a doozy). The new location is notably smaller and feels very different being in what largely feels like a mall space, but that hasn’t stopped Sesame Inn from designing a space that feels notably elevated from other similar dining experiences, with some really pretty choices in decoration and overall design. And the service was very sweet and attentive and gave some human touch to the very carefully articulated dining area.

I got the Shrimp with Eggplant lunch entree, and it was well made and quite delicious. Both a touch spicy and very savory, accented with garlic and spices. I also opted for the hot and sour soup, a favorite soup of mine, and though it was a bit different for that style of soup (less sour and more savory), it was very good. The price for the entree and soup was just $15, which seems very fair for both the quality of food and the restaurant experience itself. I will look forward to coming back again when possible to try a dinner service, and I would recommend the place to anyone looking to get a high-end Asian dining experience at a price that seems like a steal, all things considered.

We went there during lunch on Saturday, the wait was about 15 mins. The server was very nice and attentive. She made sure we get the food asap even when they wete busy in the kitchen. Crispy duck was my favorite. I am glad that the sauce is on the side so the duck doesn’t get soggy when i pack the left over home.

A really great Chinese (sushi and Thai as well) spot that has been around since my living memory. It’s located back/beside a dealership service center (or something like that) so it’s tucked away.

Lovey inside. Large window bay in the upper seating area, just a couple steps up, give that nice natural light.

Food is so good. Typical appetizers options that satisfy. Sushi is good for not being the main attraction. Dinner is a large portion, could be shared by two. Big bright fresh vegetables in the dishes and no skimping on meat portions. I’m so looking forward to eating the leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Try a hot sake. It’s such a complex taste, so different from chilled sake. I swear it has a foodish taste to it when hot, like a good hard aged cheese or something like that. Give it a go.

Do not order take out on a holiday.

Ordered takeout today like we have many of times. Told food would be ready in 30 minutes

We arrived 35-40 minutes after calling and proceeded to wait 20 minutes during a performance being done for the people of the restaurant but everyone who got takeout just had to stay and watch the show?

We did not receive our vegetable lo mein. Did not receive a receipt or anyway to know which chicken is which for our order.

Will update review in the future if service gets better.

Clean and upscale dining atmosphere. The portion and generous and price is very reasonable ($17 per person). The taste of most fried rice, noodles, and chicken were all fantastic. My favorite is the seafood supreme, this is a must try. I would definitely go again

We went to their new place, not so great, they lost their appeal, they downsized to a fast food style restaurant with sitdown accommodations. The food was great so my wife said. They are disheveled but yet they are in a new place, I give them credit , I am just being honest. We used to be able to go there with a high-end crowd now they are a Applebee’s type atmosphere. Which is OK, but not what we expected for them,, by the way if you wish to have a drink of alcohol you need to bring your own they do not serve any alcohol at this time and they did not let anyone know this.

This is my wife’s favorite restaurant in the North Hills.
We’ve been coming here for years.

They just recently moved to The Block, a newly-revamped, upscale shopping center.
I wasn’t sure if I’d like the new location, but it’s great.

The new site has huge windows & plenty of room. Plus, the service is just as excellent as always, as is the food.

Last minute decision on Valentines Day, it was packed but got a table in under a half hour. Service was great and good came out quick. Very generous serving sizes, overall food was great and definitely worth the prices on the menu.
