An Indian restaurant in the centre of Copenhagen offering a wide variety of South Indian dishes. We tried the masala dosa, Chettinad chicken, and parotta. Everything looked good overall. However, the taste of the sambar and chutneys could be improved

The food was good. But the staff was very very rude. The attitude was not at all acceptable. Asked her why there is additional fare in the price, she just mentioned it is the company’s policy snd didn’t give any further explanation. It seems like they simply charge additional fee for non Europeans. Seems really unfair and they did not mention this before. TOURISTS BEWARE

This Indian restaurant is a must-visit! The food is absolutely delicious, the service is excellent, and the Dosas are simply outstanding. A definite go-to place for anyone who loves authentic flavors and especially for dosa lovers.

Coming back to The South Indian (Vesterbro) always feels a bit like coming home.
I used to work here, and seeing how the place still keeps its soul — the warm energy, the amazing food, the kind team — honestly makes me feel great every time.
The dosas, the spices, the atmosphere — everything tastes just as I remember, maybe even better. And now with Indian wines on the menu, it’s even more special
If you’re looking for something real, comforting and full of flavour, this is the place.
Grateful for every visit ❤️

In Copenhagen, you will find restaurants ( good one) with little attitude, the attitude which will make you feel like you are the host and the waitress are the one being guest. But , oh boy, this hidden gem, has amazing service. The lady, from Nepal, was taking orders , serving , cleaning tables, and taking bills. At one point, i offered my help because, for sure that was too much. She was accomplishing all the tasks with smile and offcource on time.
Food, 10/10 (dosa 12/10). I think with such amazing service, even if the food was not great, i wouldn’t have cared. You are super woman.

The food was excellent—authentic, flavorful, and freshly prepared. The service was quick, timely, and genuinely heartwarming. The ambience was warm and inviting, with light background music that added to the overall pleasant dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Indian cuisine.

We went there because the reviews was better and we were craving for south Indian food. Firstly the ambiance was non existent, felt like the place was dead!!! We ordered dosa which was good alone with sambar but rest of food was nothing. No taste no flavor! The silver lining was service, she was really good!

The entrance from the street is well marked and looks interesting. But as one opens the door on the 1st floor, one enters what I would call an apartment. Simple white walls, no decorations, just tables.
The service was extremely slow and dissynchronized. We waited for half an hour for someone to come and take our order. When taking the order, the waitress mentioned that one of the dishes was rather spicy, so we decided to reconsider, and she left (which is of course fine), and we gave her the last dish name a bit later. What was not fine was the fact that the last dish came at least 10 (15?) minutes after the first two were brought to our table.
They also only brought us one bowl of rice for the two dishes, and didn’t bother about the second one until we called the waitress. Nor were there any knives on the table, we had to ask for them.
The food itself was good, especially the butter chicken. The prices for the main dishes were okay, for the starters and beverages – somewhat high.
So if you want a good butter chicken – order it “to go”

Good food and atmosphere! We tried masala dosa, chapati, vegetable kurma and vadas. Everything was great, especially the kurma. It tasted exactly like in restaurants back home! It took really long to get served though, since they looked really understaffed when we visited. The restaurant was at almost 80% capacity with just one waitress, who did a great job, but was too overwhelmed (cannot blame her, this is a note to the owner). This also increased waiting time unfortunately.
