While I am a business owner and fully understand the challenges of the current economy and the reality of inflation, there is a distinct difference between adjusting for rising costs and what feels like price gouging.
During my visit a few months ago, I was surprised to be charged an additional $1.50 for sour cream on a shrimp quesadilla which used to be and should always be standard condiment that’s included. Today, I ordered the habanero shrimp bowl, which I have ordered for years. Not only was it served without the signature fried tortilla bowl, but it also contained fewer shrimp than usual, 5 not 6 Lastly, the mango habanero sauce is not the same as it originally was, and the flavor was not what I expected. Furthermore, the $1.50 sour cream charge has now increased to $2.10 for a .50 portion, and the substitution of the El Yucateco sauce for a standard red hot sauce is a noticeable decline in quality.
The water that was once $1.50 is now $3.50 and the lemonade that was once under five dollars is now 7 seven and change.
For a new customer, this might be their only impression, but as a long-time regular, these changes in quality and the constant “nickel and diming” for basic ingredients are a major turn-off.
On a positive note, I want to applaud your staff. I have visited all three locations, and your team is consistently respectful, clear about the menu, and welcoming. My server today, Eddison, provided excellent service, and it was a pleasure to interact with him.
Congratulations on the success of your three locations; that is a significant achievement. However, the current price points and service adjustments have reached a point where it no longer makes sense for me to dine with you. I hope this feedback is taken in the spirit of a long-time customer wanting to see you maintain the standards that made your business great. God Bless you.
Today, about half way through the chimichanga, I bit into something hard pulled out half a toothpick. I first felt astonished. Then lucky that I didn’t pierce and damage my tongue and mouth. Then grossed out and tried to take comfort in that the toothpick looked snapped rather than chewed on. My last stage was confusion- where did this toothpick come from and how did it get in?!
I’d like to go back because I genuinely like the food and I am sure this is a one off. But there was a toothpick…

La Taqueria proved why the break was necessary. The person who picked up my call kept calling me “Mommy” and got my order wrong every single time they repeated it back. The worker hung up on me as a result.
La Taqueria- is this how you do business?
