Plenty of servers. No wait. “Candice” took take care of me and offered recommendations. So many things to choose from: steaks, shrimp, cheese bombs, chicken wings, lots of different burgers, even sliders. I tried the prime-rib sandwich. Came with a dipping sauce and a side. I chose potato salad. Delicious. Great place to get a meal at a reasonable price! If you stop by, ask for Candice. She’s a doll and easy on the eyes!
After waiting 30 minutes, we were finally seated. Then it took another 10–15 minutes just to get drink orders in — not the fault of our waitress, Victoria, who was clearly doing her best. She was running around like crazy, juggling cleaning, seating, taking orders, and helping other tables. Honestly, she was the only bright spot of this visit, and I want to be clear that none of this reflects on her.
I ordered the teriyaki flank steak with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and a side salad. My wife ordered the Mississippi catfish platter. To their credit, once Victoria was able to place our order, the food came out quickly — maybe 5 minutes — and she even apologized, saying she felt bad about how long we had been waiting earlier.
Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were made without a single pinch of salt or seasoning. The asparagus had no flavor whatsoever — as if someone had just cut it fresh from a garden and tossed it on the plate without a second thought. And the steak… easily one of the worst I’ve ever had. Overcooked, chewy, bland, and simply not worth the price or anticipation. My wife even tried a few bites and couldn’t stand it either.
As for her catfish, she was convinced it wasn’t even catfish. The taste was so off and unpleasant that she couldn’t eat it. She spit it out after a couple of bites, pushed it aside, and just ate the fries. That’s how bad it was.
Overall, this was an incredibly disappointing birthday dinner. We waited 30 minutes to be seated, got our hopes up from the reviews and crowd, and left both of our plates unfinished. The only saving grace was Victoria’s service — she was friendly, apologetic, and attentive, and it’s clear she was doing her absolute best under pressure.
But the food… hands down one of the worst meals we’ve had in a long time. Maybe we just ordered the wrong dishes, but based on our experience, we won’t be back and can’t recommend this place.
⭐☆☆☆☆ (1 star – solely for the waitress)
For dinner, I ordered the teriyaki flank steak and asked for it to be cooked medium rare but unfortunately, it came out medium well. That was disappointing, especially since flank steak can get tough if it’s overcooked. The flavor was just okay, nothing that really stood out. The sides didn’t help much either. The grilled asparagus was mushy and undercooked, and the garlic mashed potatoes were bland and didn’t have much of a garlic flavor. It felt like the sides were an afterthought.
My boyfriend ordered a burger and fries. He said the burger was decent, but nothing memorable — just your average bar-style burger. The fries were fine, not super crispy or seasoned, just kind of there.
The service was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed, which we appreciated. But overall, the food missed the mark for us. We might return for the margaritas and to try a few appetizers, but we wouldn’t go back for the entrées. If you’re looking for good drinks in a chill setting, Woody’s is worth a stop — just don’t expect too much from the food.
