1 star because the food was very bad. I used to eat here when I visit each year but this year was truly horrible. The three appetizers were overcooked and beyond dry. The Korean beef was almost impossible to tear apart, like jerky. The shrimp was too deep fried and hard, the crab Rangoon was tough and seemed old. The general tsos chicken was so dry and tough she couldn’t swallow it without choking. The chicken pad Thai was barely sauced, the chicken was tough, and was very low on flavor compared to what I normally have had at any Thai place.

While the chicken basil and tofu black pepper were edible and had more flavor, they weren’t good enough to even justify two stars for the food.

Service and atmosphere were average.

Viet Thai Cafe Review (York, PA)
Viet Thai Cafe in York is a fantastic spot for a flavorful date night! I thoroughly enjoyed the hearty Laotian dish—the distinct flavor profile was a welcome change. My girlfriend loved her choices. The Coconut Soup was rich and spicy, hitting all the right notes with its warm, aromatic broth. Her Pad Kee Mau (Drunken Noodles) was perfectly seasoned and had a great spicy kick. The menu blends Thai, Vietnamese, and Laotian cuisine beautifully, offering something delicious for everyone. Great food and friendly service make this a must-try. We will definitely be back!

Still the best Pad Thai I have had anywhere in the eastern half of the United States (and I have tried a few dozen different versions over the years), and the egg rolls are also the best I’ve had anywhere. Any dish here I have tried has been excellent, the servers are always very nice, and the interior is aesthetically awesome! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Viet Thai Cafe is one of our favorite restaurants. We are never disappointed. Their food is always fresh and tasty. The service is great. My favorite thing is they can accommodate our gluten free diet.

I was recommended here from a friend and it was really good. The portion sizes were great and honestly thought my bill was going to be more than it was. Will definitely be visiting again sometime. I was looking online and there are some menu items I really want to try!

My brother in law wanted to try this place out because he heard it was 1 of the Best Thai restaurant in York, Pa. So my sister, the step son and myself went along. We were skeptical because we never had Thai or Viet food and we were thinking it’s not going to be busy on a Friday evening 5:30pm and how many people like or eat Thai food. We were dead wrong , it seemed as if the entire York community was at this place. We get there and we are told it’s about a 25 min wait but my brother in law didn’t mind waiting because he really wanted to try the food. About 30 min later, we are sat at a table (fyi this place isn’t big at all) Our server David was phenomenal, he got our drinks and appetizers out fairly quickly the main dish’s did take about 45 min but we didn’t mind because we had appetizers. My sister and I tried the Vietnamese soda (strawberry) it was different but still good. The appetizers were delicious and the food was so so good. This place didn’t disappoint , this place will be my 2nd favorite place to eat. The staff, the ladies at the front counter and Daniel were Amazing ….. they Rock!! As busy as this place was, non of them had attitudes they were all pleasant. Just be ready to wait a while, you may not be seated right away, so be patient. If you do decide to wait, trust me you will not be disappointed!! Oh….. and you can take your own booze I took pictures of All our food except for the fried cheesecake with ice cream. It’s not like a typical slice of fried cheesecake looks more like an egg roll that was sweet and delicious . I just want to thank everyone again. I’ve never been to a restaurant where it’s been BUSY BUSY and the staff still have smiles on there face. Ps… the owner needs a bigger place Keeo up the good work

Wow! It was a Saturday night, so I expected it to have patrons, but it was full. Yet still made it in to the sushi bar and had an amazing experience.
Top notch staff, server was quick, friendly and perfect.
The plates are completely worth it. Huge value and flavor. Not only the ones I tried but the ones I saw for my neighbors.

Menu is a mix of Vietanames, Japanese and Thai. And from what I saw, any of the items is just as amazing.

Easy plaza parking and good order and welcome upon arrival.

I will come back and taste many other ones that I saw on the menu.

This was my first and last time visiting VietThai, and I can honestly say it was a nightmare. Our experience started out fine; our waiter was a young man who was quick and attentive at first. However, everything changed the second it came time to pay.

We decided to split the bill, and I was the first to pay. I tipped him $5, and immediately upon seeing the amount, his entire personality shifted. Before the other person I was with even had a chance to tip him, he started acting disgusted toward us. He actually threw his work tablet onto the table for the other person I was with to use for their payment. Because of his sudden rudeness, they decided not to leave a tip at all—meaning his outburst over $5 cost him the rest of the gratuity he would have otherwise received.

The situation only got more embarrassing from there. When another staff member asked him what was wrong, he announced out loud to the entire restaurant exactly how much I had tipped and what our total bill was. He began storming around the dining room, clearly trying to shame us publicly. What was most disappointing was that the rest of the staff just acted like this was a normal day and said nothing to him.

I eventually asked for the manager, but as I was explaining the situation, the waiter jumped into the conversation with a completely fake apology. The moment we headed for the exit to finally get out of there, he followed us. In front of another customer, he told me I “forgot my receipt” and intentionally dropped it on the floor. The other customer was in total disbelief at his behavior and even went to speak to the manager themselves because of how rude he was.

I understand that working in the food industry is stressful and that tips are important, but this was a case of an employee losing his mind over $5 instead of being patient. VietThai clearly doesn’t value professionalism or respect for their customers. I definitely do not recommend this establishment.

The food here is genuinely so delicious. Like this place is practically my favorite restaurant. I wish my dad would take me here more often because I love their vegetable egg rolls and vegetable dumplings. The waiters are great too, and they always bring the food quickly, even when the place is packed during rush hour. This restaurant needs to expand because it is great!
