We both went for New York strips (Wife: boneless, Myself: Bone-In) cooked to absolute perfection: juicy, flavorful, and with that ideal char on the outside. The steaks were phenomenal but the sides elevated the meal. The au gratin potatoes topped with jalapeños added a subtle kick that balanced the richness beautifully. We also tried the broccolini with almonds and Parmesan (an off-menu gem, ask for it!), which was fresh, crunchy, and bursting with nutty, cheesy goodness. And the crab macaroni and cheese BAM! It was creamy, indulgent, and loaded with fresh crab, making it a standout side that could almost be a meal on its own.
To pair with dinner, my wife enjoyed a light and sweet Moscato, while I opted for a Malbec. Everything that came out of the kitchen was executed flawlessly; Pappas Bros. truly nails the basics and then some, knocking it out of the park with quality ingredients and precise preparation.
We capped off the evening with the turtle mousse tart for dessert—a decadent, chocolatey delight with caramel and pecans that was the perfect sweet ending without being overly heavy.
Overall, this was an amazing experience and about as solid a 5-star meal as you can get. Wow. If you’re craving an excellent steakhouse dinner in Houston, Pappas Bros. will become your go-to spot. Highly recommend, we’ll definitely be back.
We ordered bottled water and a bottle of wine. That took about 15 minutes to come. After that initial pour, we were on our own. It was set up in a cooling stand, so we couldn’t reach it ourselves without getting up. But our glasses stood empty for 15-20 min segments multiple times and I literally had to flag over any staff member I could to replenish our glasses.
We ordered the lobster bisque, caesar salad, iceberg slab, A5 wagyu and bone-in ribeye along with mashed potatoes and onion rings. Food was ok but a bit bland. They definitely go classic “salt and pepper” on the steaks.
They skipped all of the frills for us. No one offered us fresh cracked pepper for our salads or soup, and didn’t get the dessert cart presentation.
After we were done eating, we literally waited unattended for 30 minutes, no exaggeration. Again, I had to flag a random staff member over to ask for the check. At this point, we were beyond ready to go.
The staff member alerted the manager who came over to apologize for the experience and comped our desserts.
$500+ for an awful experience.
On Friday, 1/23/26, we went to celebrate our shared birthday and ordered a 4 lb lobster at $40 per pound. After being seated, we were informed the restaurant was experiencing electrical issues. Steamers and fryers were down, the dining room was extremely cold, and staff mentioned the restaurant might not remain open.
After waiting over an hour and a half, the lobster arrived and it was half a lobster cut lengthwise, with no legs and only one claw out of the shell. The manager stated this now represents a “whole” lobster, which we found unacceptable given the price and wait.
Before a replacement arrived, fire alarms repeatedly went off with evacuation announcements. Exhausted, and with my 76-year-old husband not feeling well, we asked for the new lobster they were cooking to be boxed to go. The next morning, we found it was simply two halves combined, dry and disappointing. Although the meal was comped, our birthday dinner was not the experience we expected.
I appreciated the manager calling afterward to apologize. I sincerely hope Pappas reconsiders this method of serving lobster and restores the quality and presentation it has always been known for. Photos included for reference.
Update: This weekend we went to Pappas Seafood in Humble. I’ve attached pictures. Please note that the 1/23/26 picture that I already posted is what we came home with. They only served us one of those halves, saying it was 4 lbs 160.00. The other half they added to our to go bag bc we were so disappointed. Here are the pics of our visit to humble and the Lobster we got.
After 20 minutes past our reservation time I checked back in and was then told it would be another 20 minutes. We were eventually seated and a manager came over to apologize for the delay and asked how everything was going and how our food was so far, even though we hadn’t yet been greeted or served by a waiter. He again asked if we were celebrating anything, and I again mentioned it was my birthday.
Bread and water were brought out, but it took quite a while before our server came to the table to take drink orders. My daughter’s drink arrived promptly, but my cocktail did not. When the server returned he asked if I was sure I didn’t want anything to drink, at which point I reminded him I had already ordered a cocktail. It was clear my order slipped his mind, It arrived about 15 minutes later.
The waiter himself was polite, but overall the service did not match the level of restaurant the establishment presents itself to be, especially for a reservation and a special occasion. I will say the food was very good — that was the highlight of the night — but unfortunately the service experience fell well short.
I hope they can improve the service side because the kitchen clearly deserves it.
As for the food: the filet mignon was cooked perfectly, absolutely outstanding! The New York strip, unfortunately, was slightly overcooked, but there was no time for a replacement. The Caesar salad was delicious, especially the dressing — my daughter really enjoyed it. Dessert was a bit mixed: I don’t usually eat sweets, so I relied on the kids’ reaction, and they liked it, although the cake base wasn’t quite as it should be.
Special thanks to the manager — a true professional! When the server forgot to place an order for an additional filet, he quickly understood the situation, handled it promptly, and importantly, did not charge for it. That gesture deserves respect and showed real integrity in guest service.
Overall — excellent service, great steaks, and truly professional management. Despite a few small details, the overall experience was very positive.
The worst service I have ever had at a steak restaurant. We spent over $650 on dinner we didn’t complain at the restaurant because the service was so bad we wanted to just leave. If we hadn’t already ordered all our food in hopes it would get better we would have just left, however it never did. We left with the managers name on a business card and the GM. We actually took home our lobster and steak it was that bad. When I called the manager the following Monday we never heard back from anyone until I finally had to call Corp. office. Although Courtney in guest relations was nice to try to fix the problem we waited 4 weeks and after multiple calls from me to follow up we finally got a response in the mail. A measly $250 gift card after we spent $640+ tip
Yes we still tipped we are good people and we couldn’t bring ourselves to leave nothing which now I regret!!
They say they want to make it better, this has been the worst experience we have ever had.
I wouldn’t waste a dime on this restaurant or any others by this company. I won’t even get into what went wrong the night of we went there because I have repeated it to multiple managers; Vanessa, Priscilla and a Courtney and I don’t have the time or energy to waste on this horrible situation and restaurant.
