Holy Grale, our Church of Beer, is housed in a former Presbyterian church in the Highlands of Louisville, originally built in 1910. For 14 years, it has been a beloved destination for beer enthusiasts, offering a curated selection of beers from around the world.
Our stunning bar features LUKR brass taps that pour over 21 draft beers, complemented by a small cocktail menu and a thoughtfully curated wine list. The food is crafted to pair perfectly with our diverse beer offerings while also highlighting the seasonal and regional farmers we proudly partner with.
Offbeat gastropub featuring a long, rotating beer list & locavore fare in a 1905 former church.

I really dislike Belgian, German, and strong beers, but the ambiance more than makes up for my apprehension. Came here after visiting the cemetery, and what a spot. Sitting inside or outside (great view of Manikin Pis), doesn’t matter you will love the space and want to order a beer. I took pics of their beer menu. I forget what I ordered but it was tolerable. There were only a few people here so I took a tour to take some pics while it was empty. Such a great spot would come again next time I’m in Louisville!

This place was magnificent for the vibe but a bit pricey for the food. Really, isn’t that the case anywhere these days though? I think the entrees were worth the price but the appetizer was small for what we paid. Service was great with our server having great knowledge of the menu and beers. We went to the restaurant and sat upstairs. Beautiful place! Pictures show some of the garden area as well.

Shopping in town my lady and I decided to swing on in for a snack and we were blown away by how delicious the meatballs and sausage were as well as the drink recommendations at the bar.

I’ve always wanted to go to a Beer Church! Great atmosphere. We sat upstairs, which did not slow down service. Our server was quick and very knowledgeable about the extensive beer selection and the building. I didn’t get a full menu picture, just one of a great Italian pilsner. I’m not usually a pilsner fan, but i followed a server recommendation and found a new favorite. I had the pork schnitzel. It is huge, and paired well with fruit, veggies and sauce. My wife had salmon with little tasty potatoes and the best asparagus I’ve ever had. The patio area looked cool, but we didn’t get the full experience. Thanks for a great dinner, Holy Grale!

Very unique in a very good way! Popular place; friendly staff; nicely repurposed chapel with interesting decor. Beer is primarily sourced from Belgium and Germany; however, beer from US and other countries, too. Schnitzel was a winner!

Can’t give it higher praises! Service was friendly and attentive from the start and throughout. Original idea was to get drinks and snacks but the food was PHENOMENAL. Best I’ve had here and in awhile! Their burger was ahhhmazing, the fries were god sent, but if you want a Beyond experience add the curry ketchup and/or the spicy mustard if you can handle the heat! Amazing. Top marks all around, highly recommended!

I’ve been to Gralehaus before for breakfast and it was fantastic, so I was eager to try this place. The ambiance was fantastic, as it’s in an old chapel with high ceilings and stained glass windows. The outside seating area is nice too. I went for the reuben sandwich and was very pleased. It had all the traditional ingredients and was quite good. I sat at the bar and the service was fast and friendly. I’ll be back for sure.

This may have been my last visit. I’m not going to knock the place in the ratings, as I don’t want to negatively prejudice readers; however, there was one aspect of my last (final?) visit that may have spelled the end of my relationship with this restaurant: opaque credit card surcharges. This place will charge you 3%. And it likely won’t be obvious to you until you get your bill (which can easily be $100 per adult if you enjoy beer like I do). Look, I understand that businesses are in a difficult position with the high transaction (“swipe”) fees charged by card issuers. But if expensive businesses are going to levy surcharges, they better make them crystal clear–on websites, during greetings, and before payments are accepted. If a little cafe is going to charge a couple percent on my drip coffee, fine. But Holy Grale has a $25 burger on its menu. It’s not a cheap night out. My partner and I spent nearly $200 on dinner and a couple of beers, only to be shanghaied by an additional charge for the privilege of paying (yeah, I don’t walk around with $200 cash in my wallet, so avoiding the charge wasn’t much of an option). I just don’t want to sit down for a hundred dollar dinner feeling like I need to scrutinize the menu like contract for shady financial services. It feels duplicitous.

First time there but we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant used to be a church so it is beautiful inside and there is a beer garden in the back. We ate upstairs in the dining room since it was hot out.
We had the schnitzel, it was huge and cooked to perfection. They also have a great collection of imported beer! Our waiter was very courteous and we had a great time.
If you like historical buildings, great beer, food and service this place is for you!! ️
