Superb service, the customer service is impeccable! I came with no reservation the restaurant was full. The staff were super friendly found me a temporary small spot until a table came available. I then had this incredible view of the fishermen’s trawler’s where the fresh haddock had literally been caught this morning and brought into Maggie’s. Highly recommend coming to this spot and visiting this beautiful tranquil part of old England! Thank you Maggie’s team for making my visit extra special! Happy new year!

Lovely friendly cafe.
Great views over to the sea.
Perfect fish & chips.
Unfortunately there is no disabled access, just wooden stairs.
Toilets available.
3min walk from Rock-a-Nore car park.

Great fish and chips restaurant with friendly staff and excellent service. Lovely views across beach if you’re lucky to get a table by the window; reservation recommended!
We hadn’t booked but the staff managed to squeeze us in, and that was on a ‘quiet day’! We had the catch of the day, lovely fresh huss with some of the nicest chips I’ve ever had. Thank you for an excellent lunch.

To all the Fish and Chips lovers, Maggie’s Fish & Chips in Hastings in a hidden gem. My husband and I were in the area and decided to venture out to this shop based on the reviews I read online.

If you’re driving, you won’t find it by GPS, you will need to park in the paid parking lot and walk to find the shop. It is conveniently located on the 1st floor accross from the beach. The view is insane. They offer fresh “Catch of the Day” and all items are cooked to order. We ordered the calamari (delicious). It was so good I ordered another portion. The bummer is that it comes with only 4 pieces. It is served in a fresh bed of mixed greens with a slight vinaigrette dressing. The calamari were lightly breaded and very soft and tender. My husband who don’t eat calamari, enjoyed it thoroughly. I wanted a 3rd portion but was told that all of the calamari was done . Our server was a nice elder woman who was very attentive to our dining needs.

There’s outdoor seating but be mindful of the seagulls flying around…lol. We were able to get a nice table with the ocean view.

We ordered the Monk fish which come with chips and tartar sauce. My husband got a side of mushy peas, which I enjoyed surprisingly because they’re usually bland in taste, but not at Maggie’s.

Total cost: 2 Monk fish meals, mushy peas, 1 extra order of chips, 2 calamari, 1 order of haddock, 2 drinks (cider & apple juice) = £81

If you go there, DO NOT get the battered sausage, absolutely no batter on them hence see the photo, just tastes like an oily deep fried sausage with nothing on it, awful, and £12 for a portion this small is incredibly disappointing. Waited 20 minutes altogether, very disappointing experience and will not be going back.

We have been here before and always come back due to the exceptional quality of the fish and chips. The best light batter and amazing chips with mushy peas. Heaven. Great service from Catherine too. Thank you.

Busy Saturday lunch time but we managed to get a table for 2 on the balcony. Watch out for the seagulls though!

Service was efficient and friendly. Food was big portions, tasty chips (though too crispy for my co-diner) and a lovely fresh piece of fish.

I think it is a must have place, a fish restaurant in the historic fishermen area of the old city. There are many fish and chips places around, but I chose this as it was top rated. Indeed, I liked it. Sat at the balcony with the sea view. Got the catch of the day (plaice and huss), dish size was great, fish was fresh and tasty. Facilities are clean. Girls are serving the guests well and doing their best. However it is a super busy place with a large flow of tourists, so book beforehand!!!

Dear Friends and Google Reviews Community. This is about our visit today, our findings and our experience.

We arrived around 1300 with no booking and asked if there was a table for 3 of which they could accommodate. We ordered two double sausage beans and chips and his Lordship the Lord of Darkness had a cod like that wasn’t a shocker ! With chips and a coffee, sure he is an addict of coffee !

The meals all arrived piping hot and I mean hot, his cod look very big on his plate of chips and was subsequently demolished as if the end of the world was nigh

For our visit the service was fine no issues, the food very hot and fresh, no issues, perhaps bigger mugs for coffee for the addict ! But didn’t detract from a pleasant visit, it represented value for money and whilst you can’t please everyone and everyone is entitled to their opinions our visit was fine and based on our experience it got 5 stars

We can recommend for our visit today

We had a great time at Maggies. We had already planned to go, but it was also recommended as ‘the best fish and chips in Hastings’ by a local on the beach.

It didn’t disappoint, my boyfriend is vegetarian and they had good options. He had the battered halloumi and I had the cod and chips. Both were fresh and not oily at all! The only thing I would improve is that they weren’t able to remove the skin on my fish.

A special note for the cup of tea which was the perfect shade of brown. We liked that they served local beers too.

The restaurant was quiet when we first arrived, but soon filled up, with lots of people coming for takeaway.

We would definitely be back!
