Great views over to the sea.
Perfect fish & chips.
Unfortunately there is no disabled access, just wooden stairs.
Toilets available.
3min walk from Rock-a-Nore car park.
We will return! With friends.
We hadn’t booked but the staff managed to squeeze us in, and that was on a ‘quiet day’! We had the catch of the day, lovely fresh huss with some of the nicest chips I’ve ever had. Thank you for an excellent lunch.
If you’re driving, you won’t find it by GPS, you will need to park in the paid parking lot and walk to find the shop. It is conveniently located on the 1st floor accross from the beach. The view is insane. They offer fresh “Catch of the Day” and all items are cooked to order. We ordered the calamari (delicious). It was so good I ordered another portion. The bummer is that it comes with only 4 pieces. It is served in a fresh bed of mixed greens with a slight vinaigrette dressing. The calamari were lightly breaded and very soft and tender. My husband who don’t eat calamari, enjoyed it thoroughly. I wanted a 3rd portion but was told that all of the calamari was done . Our server was a nice elder woman who was very attentive to our dining needs.
There’s outdoor seating but be mindful of the seagulls flying around…lol. We were able to get a nice table with the ocean view.
We ordered the Monk fish which come with chips and tartar sauce. My husband got a side of mushy peas, which I enjoyed surprisingly because they’re usually bland in taste, but not at Maggie’s.
Total cost: 2 Monk fish meals, mushy peas, 1 extra order of chips, 2 calamari, 1 order of haddock, 2 drinks (cider & apple juice) = £81
Service was efficient and friendly. Food was big portions, tasty chips (though too crispy for my co-diner) and a lovely fresh piece of fish.
We arrived around 1300 with no booking and asked if there was a table for 3 of which they could accommodate. We ordered two double sausage beans and chips and his Lordship the Lord of Darkness had a cod like that wasn’t a shocker ! With chips and a coffee, sure he is an addict of coffee !
The meals all arrived piping hot and I mean hot, his cod look very big on his plate of chips and was subsequently demolished as if the end of the world was nigh
For our visit the service was fine no issues, the food very hot and fresh, no issues, perhaps bigger mugs for coffee for the addict ! But didn’t detract from a pleasant visit, it represented value for money and whilst you can’t please everyone and everyone is entitled to their opinions our visit was fine and based on our experience it got 5 stars
We can recommend for our visit today
It didn’t disappoint, my boyfriend is vegetarian and they had good options. He had the battered halloumi and I had the cod and chips. Both were fresh and not oily at all! The only thing I would improve is that they weren’t able to remove the skin on my fish.
A special note for the cup of tea which was the perfect shade of brown. We liked that they served local beers too.
The restaurant was quiet when we first arrived, but soon filled up, with lots of people coming for takeaway.
We would definitely be back!
