We ordered the calamari for an appetizer and it was great, lightly breaded and cooked perfectly. Except it’s filled with these rice chip things. They add nothing to the dish except to make it look bigger. Wasn’t a fan of those.
We had the burger and seafood paella as our meals. The burger was lacking something and was very bland. Luckily the paella was good. Scallops cooked perfectly.
They give a pretty dessert for special occasions.
The sommelier was very pleasant and helpful. Nice to have someone able to tell us about the wine and the region it comes from. Helped us make a final decision on 2 bottles.
They set us in the booth table, which was comfortable but you could not see the holiday lights or anything. The entire restaurant looks old and dated, like it’s stuck in the 90’s.
Our server was amazing. She was patient, helpful in answering our questions, and kept checking on us. As staff walked by they constantly were checking on us, refilling water, even refolded my napkin when I went to the restroom.
We arrived on time for our 5pm reservation. We were immediately sat at a table that overlooked the lake that had a Christmas light display, which was nice. Gage (sp?) was our server and did a great job ; he checked on us at all the right times. I felt the server’s assistant kind of rushed us during appetizer and towards the end with asking if we were done eating when we still had food on our plates and actively eating. And the sound of having bread service was great, but we only got offered bread once, which was right before our entrees arrived. That seemed weird and out of place to me and would rather have some bread with my apps. But all good, maybe it’s a fancy thing I don’t know about lol. I will say the orange roll I had was awesome. It had a sweet orange glaze–something I’ve never had before–smothered on a hot roll, so delish.
So, they have fancy digital menus that allows you to easily explore the menu. For appetizers, we ordered the Iced Jumbo Prawn Cocktail and Seafood Crudo. Both were of fresh quality and tasted great. No pics of the app’s as I wanted to enjoy my birthday without holding up dinner to take a bunch of pics that I’m usually known for lol.
After a year of being a vegetarian, I had decided a while back ago that on my birthday I would return to my pescatarian life. For my entree, I ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese. It did not disappoint! Lobster was tender and buttery. The noodles were on the larger size with a delicious blend of a 3 cheese sauce that wasn’t too watery nor too cakey thick–the consistency was perfect and I enjoyed it thoroughly. My friend and his mom, both ordered the infamous Hot Rock Filet, which of course, was the star of the show (see my flaming video). It looked so awesome that I even wanted to try it lol. My friend said the filet literally melted in his mouth and enjoyed every bite to the end.
For dessert, they brought me out Beverly’s signature Blue Raspberry Cotton Candy with a lit candle that also had vanilla ice cream, berries, and a meringue cookie. The desert was fun, versatile, and yummy! I didn’t stop there and also ordered the Chocolate Celebration cake, which was a huge piece and could easily be shared. If you’re a chocolate lover then try this. It was very rich and dense made up of chocolate devil’s food cake, dark chocolate mousse, and chocolate ganache. My friend and his mom, both ordered the Creme Brulee, and both said it was fantastic. From what I saw, it had a great shiny carmelized topping and I enjoyed watching them tap the top with their spoons before breaking into what they said was a creamy vanilla custard.
Thank you, Beverly’s, for providing a nice elegant birthday dinner. It was our first time here and I’m pretty sure it won’t be our last.
Portions were larger than anticipated based on other reviews, my fiancee was full after just the hummus starter and took entree and desert to go, which they boxed for us. I had the harvest salad which was also delicious, I’d eat more salads if they were all like that!
We got mocktails (pomegranate mule and huckleberry margarita) which were both yummy.
I had the surf and turf, it was delicious. Fiancee had the burger, enjoyed the pretzel roll, juicy with lots of flavor.
We asked for our desserts to go, we got one of each (brownie a la mode and white chocolate raspberry cheesecake), they boxed the ice cream separately from the brownie which I appreciated. We liked the brownie best.
They asked multiple times if we were celebrating anything, it was my fiancées birthday, when they brought our boxed leftovers in a bag they also provided a complimentary cotton candy ice cream dessert with a cute little candle, sans embarrassing song!
Park in the resort, you can have your parking validated inside after your meal so you don’t have to pay the $10. There is a lack of signage so may have to ask people for directions (for example in the parking lot you have to go to the ground floor and go through the resort for a different elevator to get up to the 7th floor where Beverley’s is).
Great value for a great meal, would recommend the Lakeside meal for anyone wanting to be bougie on a budget!
When I made the reservation, I was told Beverly’s would be closed to regular diners because of this event. Based on that, we expected the dinner to take place in the actual Beverly’s restaurant. Instead, we were seated in a back conference room with no view. One of the main reasons we chose Beverly’s was for the atmosphere and the lake views, so being placed in a conference room felt very misleading and honestly like a bait and switch.
The food was also underwhelming. The lobster soup was watery and lacked substance, and the sushi rolls were forgettable. Overall, the food quality did not reflect the price point or the reputation Beverly’s is known for.
This was our first experience with Beverly’s, and it was a major letdown. We’ve had far better meals and experiences at Cedars and Dockside, even during buffet events. For a premium-priced event, the setting and food should match the expectations created when booking. Unfortunately, this experience did not.
Atmosphere is 3/5 – only a 3 because you have the lake view, but the rest of the place needs a major facelift.
Food 1/5
Service 2/5
Nothing what you expect when you’re paying $50+ per entrée.
Corkage fee is $75!!!
Massive hair in our dessert – see photo.
We were celebrating our anniversary, which I stated in the reservation made online – they tried to seat us in the worst seat in the house in the back, dark corner table by the kitchen with no water view.
We then get seated a better table but still not great next to the som station.
First round of cocktails took 10 min, my glass had water at the bottom from the ice cube melting while it waited at the bar for the server to pickup and pour the drink at the table – that’s how long she took to bring it.
The house “signature” complimentary role had this gross sweet orange sauce on it – a sugar bomb before dinner, we took one bite and didn’t touch it. We asked for the sourdough option and it was obviously not fresh, something straight out of a freezer is what it presented and tasted like but at least it wasn’t a sugar bomb.
The carpaccio appetizer was 2/5 stars, hardly any meat and too much mustard and onion.
We ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc for dinner and they brought massive pinot noir bowl glasses to drink it with. When we asked for white wine glasses we were presented with all the options available and surprise they don’t have traditional white wine glasses – odd for how many bottles of wine they offer.
The wedge salad had exactly 4 tiny pieces of bacon, maybe the same amount of chery tomatoes. Honestly one of the worst we’ve ever had.
The lobster bisque soup was the worst we’ve ever had. No creaminess at all.
We went with seafood since the waitress talked up the seafood special and the halibut dish. The special was fishy, no flavor at all, 1 out of 5 stars. The halibut was better but 3 stars at best.
The Sage Advice cocktail was more simple syrup than it was gin.
The french fries were good and so was the crème brulee.
We will never be back and do not recommend anyone dine here – it is a tourist trap.
Alex, the sommelier, was equally fantastic. He helped us select the perfect wine, thoughtfully decanted it, and ensured it was ready for us at dinner. His expertise and hospitality added so much to our evening.
Jordan, the general manager, also took the time to speak with us and was extremely kind, welcoming, and personable. His professionalism and warmth elevated the overall experience even further.
We left feeling cared for and even more excited for our wedding the next day. Beverly’s delivered a true five-star dining experience in every way. Highly recommend for any special occasion or for anyone who values exceptional service, thoughtful details, and a memorable evening.
