My last taco was a street taco in Mexico. It was good . The tacos at tasty taco are phenomenal! They make their own tortillas!!! Hard to find north of San Antonio. The salsa on the table was easy to apply to every bite. The gal taking my order was patient with me while I was ordering. Plenty of lettuce and cheese. The two beef tacos filled me up. The unsweetened ice tea was great.

This place is always a good choice. I usually get the original flour taco and cheese curds. Some of the best tacos around! I do feel like the amount of cheese curds you get got smaller but theyre still delicious! Everyone is always friendly and helpful. Theyre usually busy and may not be able to find a table to sit depending on the time of day you go. They are decently priced. Definitely recommend!

My wife and i have been eating and loving the original flour tacos for decades and we have visited the Ankeny location almost exclusively ever since it was built. The tacos have always had a nice healthy portion of meat however, tonight was the first time that we felt disappointed as there was less than half of the usual portion of meat on all three of our tacos and twice as much lettuce. Hopefully, it won’t be like this next time.

Visited on a strong recommendation, and our neighbor was right! Walked into a packed restaurant on a weekend, and the staff managed it well. Plenty of parking. Tasty, cheap-eats food with lots of Des Moines-area history. Corn & flour tacos, other Mexican food options. Enjoyed a pair of original tacos with ground beef. No frills. Fantastic service, clean.

I’ve tried ground beef, chicken and pork tacos in the past, however today I ordered the diced steak in my taco and burritos. The diced steak is a true winner. The diced steak was tender and had great flavor.
Taco sauce is not necessary, but it does increase the taco flavor profile. I will be back. Service is friendly and food comes out quickly.

Our order Sept 25th was not good. We LOVE Tasty Tacos food. However the last two orders, the Enchiladas were fine. The Fried Flour Tacos were not good. They were tasteless and dripping in oil. The meat had no taste. Didn’t taste even close to a taco, let alone the wonderful Tacos we have had over the years past. If you changed your recipe, you need to go back to the original recipe. It was great. We won’t go back now for a long time, if ever. Sad because we were eating there at least twice a month or more. Sad.

I enjoy Tasty Tacos mainly for the deliciousness of their deep-fried tacos. Tasty Tacos is, in my opinion, a step above other Tex-Mex fast food options. The prices are reasonable for what you get for your money, and the customer service was friendly and professional. The store was clean, and I’d recommend this store.

Today Pam needed to pick up some things at SAMS in Ankeny and treated me to a birthday lunch at Tasty Taco, one of my most favorite places. I ordered the flour taco with pork, the pork is insanely tender and flavorful, every time. I totally love jalapeno’s, and their jalapeno poppers take the word awesome to a whole new level. Pam had the cheese enchilada, (a really good pick, her favorite), not pictured and the order of flour tortilla chips with guacamole (last photo). Pam shared a few of those and they are epic.
Every time we’ve eaten at the Tasty Taco in Ankeny the food has always consistently been superb (tasty). If you pull into the parking lot and find only one or two spaces, that’s ok, no worries, the system of ordering and the quickness of receiving your order is unbelievably smooth. This was a real treat today!! In fact it’s nearly impossible to not stop there when we are in Ankeny.

First time trying Tasty Tacos on a road trip through Iowa. It’s amazing how many rave reviews exist for this place. The young man was super friendly and helpful with what to order. I got the original taco. The fried tortilla was mushy, the beef had 0 flavor, and there were no toppings to make up for any flavor lost in the meat. The most bland taco I’ve ever had. Pretty hard to screw that up. Will never be back and will never recommend to anyone. Sorry for the bad review!
