Let me start by saying this used to be the top pizza place in New Braunfels. There is nothing, in my opinion, better than an authentic NY pie and this place used to deliver that. Huge foldable slice with enough greasy cheese that it could take a napkin to sop some of the grease off! Ah those were the days.
Fast forward to the latest visit and while the place has been eclipsed for a while by several better quality pizza places which while maybe not “New York”, took their pizza to a level this place wasn’t hitting. Now however I’m almost ashamed to say, this place is a shadow of its former self. The slice isn’t foldable anymore because it’s more like a cracker it’s been in the oven so long. The sauce is uninspired and lacks flavor. The cheese is very very light, frankly, tastes like maybe they changed up suppliers there. Our order of mozzarella sticks had the flavor that lets you know it’s past time to clean the fryer. Maybe this is just the final way of saying it’s time I let this place slip completely off my rotation. As I mentioned earlier it’s slipped already just due to some newer stellar performers in town but no, I think the quality here has gone down enough that I don’t think I’ll be back. I’ll still look fondly on what had been.

My husband and I have scoured just about every pizza place in the city, and this one is definitely among the best. The cheesy bread has that perfect crispy crust and amazing flavor — it’s addictive! Their calzones are equally impressive — packed with flavor and, best of all, they don’t get soggy. You can tell they use quality ingredients and care about what they’re serving. We’ll absolutely be back — easily one of our new go-to spots for pizza night.

The pizza tasted like a “premium” frozen pizza. The toppings were very small and had pre-minced ham and such like frozen pizzas do. I was expecting better considering a large is $26.

Got there at 11:30 am on a Wednesday before the lunch rush. We were the only ones there besides 3 people at the bar who looked like they’d been there a while. We ordered one pizza and it took over 30 minutes. I told the waiter I needed a small pizza to-go when we placed our order (so it’d be ready when we were ready to leave). We finished eating and I asked about the small pizza and the waiter said he hadn’t even put it in yet. Which totally defeats the purpose of me telling him about it when we placed the initial order. So we had to wait another 35-40 min for that small pizza as the lunch rush was now there. So spent about 90 minutes at the restaurant.

Mattenga’s is down the road, tastes much better, and can bake a pizza in 10 minutes or less when we dine in.

Never coming back here again.

My husband and I loved this place, we would go pretty frequently. After the phone call I just had with what I’m assuming was the manager, I’m good. My husband ordered food for dinner one day this week and when he went to pick it up the staff told them they were closing early because they were slow and canceled our order. One of the staff wrote down a note that we could get a free pizza for the inconvenience. The purpose of my call was to get said pizza. The girl I spoke to first was very nice and willing to look into it. I was placed on hold and then the manager picks up and asks how he can help. I told him the situation and he goes “well I can’t do much with a piece of paper with no manager signature” and he asked what day the order was placed. I couldn’t remember (not something a simple text to my husband couldn’t fix) then he says “and you don’t even remember what day it was and expect me to give out free food.” He had a stank attitude like I’m trying to play some game to get free food. I say this from the bottom of my heart as someone who was in the service industry, you need to tighten up on your customer service skills slim. If you are the owner that I spoke with and not a manager and come on my review trying to justify how you acted on the phone, save it.

We ordered a take out for two people. Got a margarita pizza and cheesy garlic bread which were burnt so much that we could not eat it. The garlic bread was charred completely whereas the pizza was less burnt. For the amount we paid, the experience was really bad. I don’t recommend this place at all. Price is too high and the food quality is poor. Also the menu on the website has a different pricing. They charge higher than that written in the menu. NOT RECOMMENDED. WORST EXPERIENCE.

A good, classic, NY Style Pizza that won’t disappoint. But it will take a while so plan ahead.

Since moving to the area I’ve bounced through many pizza places in town. This is the first one to really resonate with me and remind of the classics from home. It’s a big pizza, plenty of toppings, fresh, and filling. Whether eating in or taking out I’ve always been happy with the product. That said plan ahead for take out. 45+ minutes for a large pizza is the norm in my experience. I think that’s worth it, but you sure can’t just go snag one on a whim. Fortunately in house service is faster.

I made an online order on 5/12 for pick up at 6:16pm. I arrived around 6:15pm and was told it would be about 5 minutes for the garlic knots. I saw the person put the garlic knots in the oven, take them out, package them and then they sat on the counter for a good 5 minutes before being handed off to another customer. About 30 minutes later they finally called my name and told me they were out of garlic knots. I was confused because that’s all I was waiting on, my pizza had been ready since I arrived. They refunded me in cash because they couldn’t figure out how to return it to my card. That’s fine, just annoying. I politely informed them I arrived at 6:15 and was told I was just waiting on my garlic knots. I asked if my pizza had been sitting there getting cold the entire time while I waited for these supposed garlic knots. He said “yes, ma’am, I’m sorry they’re in a heating bag.” I understand places are busy, but I sat there for 30 minutes for no reason while my pizza got cold. I understand it’s in a heating bag, but waiting there for nothing is frustrating. The last few times I’ve gone the customer service has not been the best and this was my last straw. The pizza was in fact cold even though it had been in “a heating bag” and we had to heat it up before we could “enjoy” it. We ordered two medium CYO pizzas. One was clearly thinner than the other. Overall just not a good experience customer service wise or food wise. We’ve been long time customers, but we will not be going back. On top of all that it was our Mother’s Day dinner and it was ruined. So disappointed.

Had stop ordering for a long while since ownership change & pizzas weren’t the same but just decided to try again & man it was great! They’re back to how it used to be! Great pizza- (could’ve been cooked longer tho). But awesome wings (had Buffalo & garlic parm) & their blue cheese dressing is amazing! Pizzas taste great again! Had the butcher & supreme! Thank You!

This pizza was very close to the pizza I remember from my college days in Pittsburgh. Where every corner had an Italian pizza place.

Very authentic pizza, with the sizes I remember! And the prices were very much a surprise! Their largest pizza with “the kitchen sink” on it, out the door for less than $40, the last time I ordered a large pizza from the Hut it was much more and tasted like pizza-cardboard.
These pizza had a generous amount of stretchy cheese, and the flavor was spot on, and the crunchy yet soft dough was awesome!

I’ll have to go back to try another item on their menu!

I rate this place a 87 out of 100!
