Town’s Edge Diner

This is a hidden gem in Carlinville. They weren’t expecting 10+ people, but they handled us well. The view of the golf course we nice. The food was good. I had the beef taco salad and chef salad. Nice size portions. Speaking of large portions, you should try the hamburgers. They are huge! If I’m back here I will definitely stop in.

Decided to try another local place. Located in an older building, it’s well kept with a nice relaxing cabin type interior. Waitress was very nice. We went with the nightly special which was spaghetti, salad and garlic bread $11.00. Ordered a side of onion tanglers at $2.50 as seen on the menu. (Warning!!! read the entire menu because we were charged $10 for the onion tanglers.) Salad arrived 1st. Nice salad fresh & crisp. Onion tanglers brought out, not bad but not crisp and they were greasy. Spaghetti & garlic bread arrives. 1st thought is where the sauce? Pasta covered in a meat base. Neither of us cared for the flavoring, meat was super sweet, no tomato flavor. Wife ate the noodles and pushed meat off to the side as it was too sugary for her. It was an OK however I doubt either of us would come back. I’ll drive to another town 1st to try another place.

We took a drive and went through Carlinville and found your restaurant, food was so good I hade the chicken with maple syrup and hubby hand your hand breaded tenderloin!! If we get back your way sometime we will stop back in. Our waitress was amazing by the way!!

First, the good. The place is cute, our waitress was great, and my cocktail was perfect. The food was not. My mother said the meals on wheels meatloaf is better than what they served her. My pulled pork was AWFUL!!!! It was dry with little flavor and TERRIBLE texture. I ate less than half of it. The vegetable of the day was reheated canned green beans. Does the community really think this is good food???

The food was grade A ,and the staff were very sweet and friendly. We got there 2:15, they close at 3 what we ordered was made fresh, so it took a little while, but the waitress told us to take our time and enjoy. They didn’t try to rush us and they also didn’t rush the food. We will be going back.

We had a wonderful lunch here with family on Monday. The food was great and the wait staff was so pleasant! We took up our table for a couple of hours and no one made us feel rushed at all. This is the fourth time we have eaten here, and each time has been delightful.

Had breakfast here and was not impressed. Ordered the Biscuits and Gravy for both me and my son. I ate less than half and he had two bites. It took awhile to to figure out what I was tasting. It was bacon grease. Told the waitress and all she said was that she would tell the cook. Paid $15 for a breakfast that was barely touched. Not likely to return.

We went for all you can eat pork chops and chicken and were pleased with what we got. Food was hot and delicious. Staff was kind. Only issue was the all you can eat was advertised on every table menu as being $14.70 and when we recieved our checks it was $15.70. That does need changed. Would come again though.
