The spicy chicken sandwich was delicious and really crispy. The slaw on top helped balance the heavy flavors. The quality of the bun was great. Tasted rich and light, but also held up well to the saucy goodness of the sandwich.
Fries are always a hit.
I would say the donuts are the best in the county. So so delicious. The flavor variety is broad. And everything is super fresh. German chocolate was my favorite. Secondly with the crème brûlée. The custard in the middle of that one was not too sweet at all. All of the donuts are surprisingly balanced between salty and sweet. My only critique on the donuts is that the glaze on some is very hard and flakes off in large chunks, which is not my preference.
If Stein Management sees this, PUT THE ROTISSERIE CHICKEN BACK ON THE GOSH DARN MENU. OR SEND ME THE RECIPE. Taking it off the menu should be considered a felony.
From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is friendly, relaxed, and inviting. The open seating is one of my favorite parts—if you’re even a little willing, you’ll end up meeting people from all over. On our last visit, we made some “single-serving friends” who were also visiting from out of town, and it added so much to the experience. It feels communal in the best possible way, like a shared appreciation for good beer, good food, and good conversation.
And let’s talk about the beer: 55 beers on tap, served in those glorious giant glasses (I’m pretty sure they’re 1 liter, and yes, they’re as awesome as they sound). The selection is impressive without being overwhelming, and every pour feels like part of the experience.
The food menu may not be massive, but it’s perfectly curated. Do yourself a favor and order the Bavarian Pretzel and the Squatch Wings—you will not be disappointed. Simple, flavorful, and exactly what you want alongside a great beer.
Until my next visit, I’ll continue singing Stein’s praises and telling everyone they need to make the trip at least once. Trust me—it’s worth it.
Location is fantastic and the outdoor seating is amazing.
But.
Schnitzel was dryer than a popcorn fart in the desert
Bratwurst isn’t traditional.
Ketchup was fizzy.
Chicken strips were good.
From the rating I can only imagine we had a really off afternoon.
I know they can be better and hope they do.
