This restaurant is decorated so lovely for the holiday season! As always The Original is a great choice for lunch or dinner. There is parking in the lot behind the building and street parking. The salsa is fantastic and they sell it by the jar. The corn chips and corn tortillas are the bomb! Our waitress was very nice and helpful. We did not feel rushed and our drinks were always refilled on time.

Food was excellent. I got the carne asada and it was perfectly cooked. The margaritas were so delicious and strong!!! The great service was the cherry on top. We had Alma as our waitress, and she killed it! Top notch, will definitely be back.

My wife’s family has been going to The Original for many many years. Once I was introduced, I was hooked! Great Mexican food, huge portions, and very flavorful. We’ve always gone for all special occasions, mostly birthdays and holidays. Margaritas and drinks are great! Footnote: I have a sweet tooth, so I will NOT be ordering the sweet and sour margarita (called the Tearoom Margarita??) in the future. For those who like sour, that is your drink!
We always have a great time!
Highly recommend!
Surprisingly, the few big screen TVs (typically w/ pro sports events) located around the restaurant really don’t take away from the atmosphere.

We had a wonderful experience here, and I can’t believe I had never been before! We walked right in to a table and got immediate attention from our server. We loved the hot tortilla chips, and the salsa was superb. Our margaritas were perfect and packed a punch. We were there for lunch, so we ordered off that menu, getting delicious cheese enchiladas and bean and cheese nachos. The refried beans and the nachos were just like those in my happy childhood memories from the Rio Grande Valley.

A special shoutout to our terrific server, who has been with Original for 40 years. Her service was impeccable, and it was a pleasure to see her obvious pride in the restaurant. Her experience and knowledge show in her interactions with both longtime customers and new ones.

I live 3 hours away, but I’ll be back again and often.

The Original Mexican Eats Café never disappoints! The food is packed with flavor, the service is top-notch, and the atmosphere is full of Fort Worth charm. But let me tell you—the margarita steals the show! Perfectly balanced, refreshing, and just the right kick. Whether you’re there for a casual lunch or a fun night out, this spot is a local gem. Do yourself a favor and order the top shelf margarita—you’ll thank me later!

It really felt like the “Original Mexican Cafe”. The decor and ambiance shouted authentic and homemade. We were greeted and given a table quickly. Our server arrived with a beautiful smile on her face to take our drink order. The menu is extensive. It was difficult to make a decision because everything looked amazing.
The chips and salsa were both perfect for me, light crispy chips and a flavorful but not spicy salsa.
Our lunch entrees were terrific. I’d read about their “puffy” tacos, and they were delicious. The tomatillo salsa was so bright and flavorful I could have eaten it with a spoon, but it was even better on the taco. The puffy nachos with Ada’s sauce were also delicious. Ada’s sauce is queso with ground beef, and it pared perfectly with the crisp fried flour chips.
We’ll be back soon. There’s a lot to enjoy on their menu.

First time here. Chips were delicious. Brooklyn was great. Ordered enchiladas. Toppings were wrong. Ex sour cream chicken enchiladas had chili con carne and beef enchilada had sour cream. Messed up the meal for me. Both our plates were wrong. Charro beans were amazing though.

“Real Authentic Mexican Food” done right… from house made chips & tortillas to great margaritas, everything was simply excellent.
Our friends insisted on taking us for a real Mexican food experience and it did not disappoint.

We ate lunch here today. It’s our first time eating here. Gilda was our server, she was very friendly and attentive to our needs throughout the meal. The complimentary chips are made fresh in-house. They are the best I’ve ever had, melt in your mouth. I had the lunch plate special enchilada with chili con carne refried beans and Mexican rice. My son had the shredded chicken quesadillas. His only negative was too much cheese in his dish.

They were founded in 1926, so they are almost 100 years old. Great restaurant experience in every way. We will eat here again.

Sofia was our server, and she was amazing. She recommended some options for my mom and I to try, and the food did not disappoint. The cheese enchiladas were fantastic. So cheesy and the sauce so flavorful. The handmade tortillas were beyond yummy. Fresh and hot. The salsa was perfect. It was the good kind of spicy. If you have not had charro beans, you have not lived. The flavor was on point. My mom had the Roosevelt meal, and she enjoyed every bite. The portions were good sizes and left nothing to be desired. The queso dip was also done very well. It was chefs kiss delicious. I am sad that I could not eat more. I will definitely come back before I leave at the end of the week.
