Let me preface this review but warning you that they do have a 3.5% “restaurant fee” for paying with a card. I get it in this plastic world, it helps restaurants recover from the high costs of processing payments. 3.5% is a bit higher than I’ve typically experienced though. It would’ve been decent of them to disclose this at the door or made it visibly apparent on the menu. Considering the quality of their food and $3.25 for unsweetened tea, I would think that cost has been recovered a few times over.
Carrying on…
The restaurant ambiance gave me high hopes for a quality Italian meal and our server was wonderful.
Thats where it ends.
We started with the calamari. Your basic frozen calamari. Meh, but that’s not why I came to talk about. Its the “calzone” as they call it. A calzone it was not!
I wish I would’ve read the reviews first as they are accurate when it comes to said dish. Shame on me.
Its basically knock off Pillsbury dough folded over small portions of your chosen fillings w a cheap grade of mozzarella and no ricotta. No puff up to the dough like a traditional calzone. I say cheap cheese because the oily residue was a plenty. And it wasn’t the yummy reddish pepperoni oil either. It was the cheap greasy oil from cheap garbage cheese product.
Anyways…
Like I said the fillings were sparse. I had pepperoni, mushrooms and onion. Onions barely existed, maybe 5 pepperoni and a few mushrooms. The dough was literally folded over the toppings, again no puff and no ricotta. A sad disrespectful display of a poor quality stromboli maybe. I do believe Little Cesars cheesy bread would have been better quality for a fraction of the cost. Domino’s cheesy bread definitely has higher standards and quality.
Then the “calzone” was topped with what tasted like a blend of cheddar and mozzarella cheese product. Super oily and greasy, lacking in flavor. I added the marinara and garlic oil to give it some semblance of flavor after scraping the filling out and leaving the greasy mushy bread behind. The hubs ordered a 4 topping calzone and his was just the same.
Our server, again very attentive, asked how our meal was… poor baby should’ve just let it go.
I told her, in a nice way, our thoughts and she said she’d let the kitchen know. I showed her the reviews and let her know that they already are aware.
So…
My question to Sammios. If you know your calzones are garbage and have such terrible reviews… why dont you fix it?
We won’t be back but are thankful for the experience.
Mangia mangia just not here.

Can’t make an old fashioned, the eggplant parm was not the greatest. Owned by Greeks (not a bad thing) but if you open an Italian restaurant, you should probably hire someone that can cook Italian food. All of the entrees looked terrible. I only ate it because I waited so long. The young gal serving us was super nice. She was tipped well. Owners need to get it together.

First our waitress was amazing poor kid. We ordered mozzarella sticks that came frozen. We ordered chicken Marcella that was cold. And chicken Florentino that the chicken was hot and the pasta was cold. We did return and the poor waitress was very gracious and apologetic for the kitchen. The manager brought our mozzarella sticks to the table. Set them down, said sorry the cook didn’t know to cook them longer and ran off.

All sauces were delicious. Other appetizers were good. Excellent wine.

We did order dessert to share. Strawberry shortcake which we chose to take home since it was also frozen.

Such a disappointing experience. Family Italian food shouldn’t be frozen or cold.

No apologies or discount offered by management. Only one who cared was the poor 18 year old waitress who was amazing.

My first time coming here was on 02/28/23 with my daughter’s JV and varsity team. We arrived and were greeted by the young lady at the desk and we were directed to the room for our group.
We took our seats and they took our drink order and dinner orders. They did have a set menu for the group and we were only able to order those items. If, we wanted something else, we would have to place a to go order.
They had my favorite on the set menu so, it was fine. We ordered the Sweet tea, a garden salad with red french dressing, Chicken Alfredo with penne pasta with garlic bread. The salad was fresh and vegetables were crisp and crunchy. The pasta was a good size portion and sauce was very creamy and good.
I didn’t get to truly see the decorations inside until after, dinner was over. It’s extremely beautiful inside and the painting on the ceiling is beautiful.
We will be back to try the other foods. I would highly recommend coming here.

We are in town on vacation visiting with family. My wife wanted some good Italian food, and my sister recommended Sammio’s. Hands down, this is the best I have ever had from a restaurant. I would highly recommend this restaurant. We ordered Sam’s chicken and beef strips, pork chops, eggplant parmesan, spaghetti combo, 5 piece garlic cheese bread, and several tossed salads. Kristina was very knowledgeable and professional. We visit once a year, and Sammio’s will be at the top of our list to have dinner when we return.

I came in starving since I didn’t have time to eat at lunch. I had a craving for steak. I’ve had Sammios a few times before and was sure they’d make a good dinner for me. First off, I ordered a LIT. The bar tender served top shelf without asking. I don’t care for grey goose, but whatever. I sqiuzed the lemon and had 2. My salad came out but she forgot to ask about the dressing. So she said she would go get some but took another order first. I waited, it’s fine. I had my salad then my steak came. I asked for A1 when I ordered my steak. My steak did not have a good flavor and was mostly fat. I chewed the girst bite forever, trying not to spit it out cause there’s other gursts there. Not what I would expect from a 30 dollar steak. I might have tried to eat what want fat if I had A1. I didn’t want to pack it up just to throw it away 2 days later from my fridge. I have only sent food back 2 times in my life. I was still starving and ordered potatoes skins. They were ok and filled me up. When I paid my bill. They charged me for the salad. I never got an apology for the quality of the steak. I did get an excuse that the cooks were mostly new. No manager or anyone approached me. I was very disappointed. I am near that restaurant often. Now I have to mark it off my list of places to go. I don’t want to waste another penny there.

Attended a small banquet with teenagers and parents. About 25 to 30 ppl. Our Waitress was very attentive for a large group. Food arrived quickly, it was tasteful and hot. No one had to return anything. (We ordered items from a pre-arranged menu.)
We sat in the banquet room, with closed doors, so I can’t speak to the actual restaurant atmosphere, but the event worked well in their banquet space.

My first time dining at Sammio’s. Not sure how to assess the hostesses. Like more of a recital that a genuine heartfelt welcome. The smiles didn’t quite reach the eyes…maybe it’s just my expectations. Anyway, I loved the ambiance, the setting and the lighting. Dim but bright enough for you to see your meal and the other patrons. Our server was like I intimated polite not necessarily pleasant. The order was filled with little waiting time. I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken and a Toss Salad. My friend ordered a Chef’s Salad. It was pleasing to both sight and taste buds. Quite filling too. We had to ask for take home boxes. Another highlight was the background music. Lovely selections and at a range that didn’t make conversation inaudible. I guess I will go back.

Third time eating here… thought it was good but disappointed now. The food came out separately (not all of us served at the same time). The server forgot one drink. Two of the three dishes were good, but one, the calzone, looked nothing like it should and, according to that person, wasn’t all that great tasting. The chocolate brownie was in fact a chocolate cake (nothing like a brownie in texture or taste). Even though we had recommend this place to a friend, not sure we will go back.
