My boyfriend and I were in St Augustine for vacation and stumbled upon The Black Fly. We went for the first time on Wednesday and returned on Friday. That’s how much we enjoyed our experience. We had Ali as our server both times, and she was very kind, attentive and made the experience that much more memorable. She provided us with recommendations for things to do and places to go, along with menu recommendations for drinks and food! The lobster egg rolls are fantastic, the bread is fresh and the oil and butter that are served alongside are wonderful. My boyfriend had the Slammin Salmon both times we visited and said it is one of the best salmon dishes he’s ever had! I had the Rock Shrimp Cappelini and the Lobster Mac and Cheese, both were wonderful. No question that the seafood is fresh.
If you’re in the area, stop by. Ask for Alison and enjoy the great atmosphere, food, and drinks!

Nice little restaurant, but they can not cook a steak to save a life. We ordered the steak medium rare, they brought it out well, then they re did it and brought it out blue. The mashed potatoes were so gross. They put no flavor in anything. The salmon we ordered came out half raw. It tasted good, but gelatinous. Will not come back here.

Had some sort of late snacks at this place last night for Christmas Eve since lots of places was not open so I’m happy enough to have small bites and me and my husband were checking this place out. We sat by the bar, Erin.w was the one that took our order, she was sweet and friendly.
We got fish katsu and margherita oven brick pizza. The pizza was not bad. The fish katsu was also pretty good, for myself I just didn’t really like their sweet chili sauce.

The okayest NY Strip ive ever had. Fatty and undercooked. Dont get it. The mashed potatoes were ok. The seasonal veggies were just mushy zucchini slop with like 2 carrot slices. My husband got the tuna and liked it, but I thought it was boring.
Server was nice. Atmosphere was nothing great. Save your 200 bucks.

Blackfly is hands-down one of our absolute must-stop restaurants every time we’re in St. Augustine. It’s not just a meal—it’s part of the trip. From the moment you walk in, everything feels intentional: warm, welcoming service, a relaxed but elevated atmosphere, and a menu that never misses.
The food is consistently incredible. Every dish is thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor. You can tell they care deeply about quality and execution—nothing feels rushed or phoned in. Whether you’re ordering seafood or something heartier, it’s the kind of meal that makes you pause after the first bite and say, wow.
What really sets Blackfly apart is the consistency. We’ve been back again and again, and it’s always outstanding. The service is attentive without being overbearing, the staff is knowledgeable and genuinely friendly, and the entire experience feels effortless—in the best way.
Simply put: if we’re anywhere near St. Augustine, we’re stopping at Blackfly. Every single time. It’s a standout restaurant that never disappoints and continues to be one of our favorite dining experiences in the area. Highly, enthusiastically recommended.

The food was amazing! We did make a reservation so we were seated in the private dining area. It was a Friday night and the place was very busy, louder in the main room. Our waiter and the bartender were extremely friendly, making us laugh the entire time. Will definitely go back on our next trip to St Augustine.

We were here from Atlanta for a short getaway. The manager at the Edgewater where we are staying recommended this place as a mix between a local favorite and a nice tourist destination. We are so glad he did. The food was delicious and at a great price point! The environment was eclectic and inviting with great artwork every where and the staff was on point. Nothing but thumbs up! Try the shoshito pepper appetizer and the trigger fish!
