Would not recommend eating here. Coney dog tasted very unpleasant. Tasted like plastic and was very concerning ended up throwing away the coney dogs. Also got mozzarella sticks.. Way over cooked and absolutely no cheese in them. Onion rings were okay. Complete waste of money.

SERVICE – outstanding !! so sweet and friendly and fun.
EGGS- cook Hard. not medium… and why are they so discolored and brown. dirty griddle? (removed from bill fyi – good move)
MEAT- DO NOT deep fry sausage. I know many are doing it. stop. it’s offensive.
French toast – flavorless and soggy. see pic.
Fried potatoes – good
Omelet – ok. but I would suggest fresh ingredients. it lacked flavors i’m used to in a veg-western omelets. and use a better cheese. that cheese sucked.

Yes. I’m critical. I work hard for my money and i want value. Also, i love to go out for breakfast and I love to cook.
The chef at Virginia’s does not love to cook.

my message: cook a good meal and people will come. We all know this. Look at the pictures… if you cooked that food, would you sit with me and eat it? No … you would not.

I’ll give them one more try. I think i had good eggs there before that actually looked like eggs. I love coneys !! cant wait to try them.

Been here a few times and was always happy… today was a little different. They were a little slow today so we waited a LITTLE longer than we should have. They tried to not charge us and I was not having it!! We paid MORE because the service and the heart of this place is so great. Customer for life!!!

Bruce Reeve. Welcome to, TUNKS WORLD
The tail of 2 dogs.

There was nothing like pulling up to (if you could find a spot nearby) a little hot dog cart on Detroit St in Jackson.

It was set up in front of a tiny house and nothing all that special really, it was just your average run of the mill,
Hot dog cart… that is…
Until Tommy stepped behind it! Then something very magical happened.

I swear His smile I believe is how he steamed the buns to perfection and his laughter was the most important seasoning to the many creative hotdogs he served. From the time he opened the umbrella until the very last Frankfurter was served there would be people from all walks of life lined up sharing their stories with one another unassuming and all with one common goal, a 3 minute interaction with a beautiful ol soul that more than likely knew your name and remembered your favorite toppings… Tommy. He has now long moved on to some street corner in heaven where I’m sure he’s greeting everyone with a forever steaming smile and watered down mustard.

My favorite was always the New York dog. He had so many to choose from and I tried them all. Yesterday was a very special experience and I could almost hear him say, Hello Tunk!! Did you bring me some chicken? He liked my chicken when I had Tunks BBQ set up on Michigan Ave.

When we heard that Ted, his cousin and one of the coney kings, from the Virginia Coney Island was honoring Tommy and preparing some of his amazing recipes well we didn’t hesitate and jumped in the car and embarked on a 400 mile round trip to experience those memories again and let me tell you it was worth every mile.

We got one of everything of course and man did they hit the spot!!
New York, Diana, Tiger, Texas, and Taco dog. Of course we also got a couple original VCI coneys as well and I will say the cooks really knocked it out of the park and to top it all off we had the best hash slinging server in the country the famous, Gorge. I think she’s probably served me over a thousand coneys in my day and millions in hers.

Chad Melton I’m sure has something to do with this as he’s the top coney sauce maker in the county as well and who we hope to meet the meat man in person someday but we were there and gone before his shift started.

Thank you all for bringing back so many wonderful memories of not only my childhood and rice pudding but honoring such a wonderful man as
Tommy.

So seriously sad. My childhood go-to best place to eat ever really disappointed me tonight

Hair in the food. What even are these onion rings? It was like eating fried air. Then, when asked, “How was everything,” and you politely say your concerns and get a very cold “Yeah, I wouldn’t like that either.” No apology, just a cold shrug of the shoulder.

I have been coming here for 40 years or so. My first memory of eating with the family at a restaurant was here. The coneys are the original recipe from when I was a kid and although this place has changed owners several times during my life the food stays the same.
I come here for lunch often, George the waitress is fun, sarcastic at times, and that’s half the fun. If you’re a long time Jackson person you know this is the place to go. If you’re a first time, get the coney with everything and don’t just get one. Get a minimum of 2. Fries, onion rings with ranch, I’m sure the other food they have here is fine but you’re at the legit Coney Island. Eat a coney. I sometimes get a big batch for everyone at work.

I love this Coney Island. It has the old school feel, the staff is great and attentive and the coneys are by far the best! Georgene is always a fun and delightful person to have waiting on you. I like to order my coneys with light onion, as they regularly come with a lot, and add some shredded cheese. I have Ben coming to this restaurant for years and have never been disappointed. It’s nice walking into an establishment and having all the pride working know you by name. Virginia’s is a staple in the Jackson community.

Very solid Jackson style Coney dog . Everything tasted super fresh. Soft bun, freshly grilled dog and steaming hot Coney meat. They go heavy on the onions here so if you love your Jackson coneys loaded up with onions this is your place. Service is friendly and quick with getting your order out. Building/atmosphere could use a little work but overall it’s what you expect for a hole in the wall Coney shop. I love that they give a discount to first responders.
