Tucked high up in the mountains is the sweetest little hidden gem — and honestly, the drive alone is worth the trip. Winding roads, breathtaking views, and scenery that makes you want to pull over every five minutes just to soak it all in.
And then you arrive… and it’s the most adorable little mountain restaurant you’ve ever seen. Cozy, welcoming, and full of charm.
The food? Incredible. The hamburgers are juicy and flavorful, the fries perfectly crisp, and the onion rings? Absolutely outstanding. Their soups are warm, comforting, and clearly made with care.
But the real showstopper? The homemade pies. One bite and you know — this is what seals the whole experience. Fresh, rich, and completely unforgettable.
Add in the friendliest, sweetest staff who make you feel right at home, and it turns into more than just a meal — it’s a delightful day you’ll be thinking about long after you head back down the mountain.
You simply have to go — for the drive, the scenery, the food, and the wonderful people who make it all so special.

Waitress was a bit inexperienced and confused, but super friendly and nice. I really enjoyed my food, and it was a LOT of food for a good price.

The huckleberry salmon was delicious. Worth a try!

The cheesecake is fantastic.

Best pie in the mountains. Food is generally outstanding here. I especially like the Ruben with house made corn beef and the perfect amount of sauerkraut. The chili was awesome. However, we did not care for the beef and noodle soup.

The food seems homemade with generous portions.
The oatmeal was good consistency I liked it, but more butter in it would be better. It was served with raisins and brown sugar.
The Denver omelet was huge and delicious but the potatoes did need some butter or oil.
The fruit cup was good. The banana role was good too.

The service was great!
This was recommended to us and we enjoyed it a lot.
Outside seating is available with dogs.

Overall decent. Worth stopping if on your route, but not worth going out of the way for. I got prime rib on Saturday-perhaps it’s better on Friday (fresher?) but to me it was somewhat tasteless, if not decently cooked. In addition, the horseradish was not good-lacked spice, was quite bland, and only made the prime rib slightly more edible. The mashed potatoes was fine and not particularly notable. The chili was so unremarkable that I almost forgot to mention it. In addition, the wine options were “white or red” which I find funny, but not particularly an issue-the white wine was actually quite good. On the plus side, the cheesecake was great! The huckleberry cheesecake was definitely better than average. Also, the portions were unarguably large, so you will not go hungry.

Not much around in the vicinity, so definitely a captive market. Service was slow enough that it was brought up in conversation at the table. Atmosphere was okay, I’d imagine you would like it more than us if you appreciate the side of the road diner, but it did feel a little grimy.

Overall recommend if:
You are taking this road anyways, and are in need of dinner. 3/5 dinner
If not in need of dinner, worth stopping for the cheesecake. 3.5/5 desert

Trudy’s is the epitome of a mountain town restaurant and so much more! The place was packed for Memorial Day weekend but they were able to seat our group of six in a flash! The small town ambience inside was comfortable as if you were at your best friends mountain cabin. The service was excellent, even in the bustle of the weekend. The food… excellent and tasty! I will definitely be back to try the pies and desserts! Thanks again!

Great family atmosphere!! Very friendly staff eager to help out their partons!

Open 11-4

Great choices from the menu! Stopped in for pie and some Fry’s and was not let down by their fresh huckleberry cheesecake and mixed berry pie and the kiddo had the brownie Sunday.

Only negatives was the water tastes odd and the soda machine seems like it needs cleaned sprite tasted like it had coke or Pepsi mixed in it. The brownie also tasted like it was made from scratch which is excellent but tasted like pure baking chocolate and wasn’t sweet like a normal brownie. (But don’t let that stop you from a good meal!!!)

Super impressive Fry’s and a nice size for a side!

Great experience thank you for being an awesome stop for our day trip!!

Trudy’s is a cute little diner with home town hospitality. My husband said the prime rib was one of the best he has ever had. I had chili and corn muffin and it was delicious.

It’s hard to leave a negative review. Lived in Idaho my whole life. I’ve been coming here for 28 years. We missed breakfast arrived at 10:50 , but let’s just give some grace and say 11:00. I was bummed, but it is what it is right. They still had biscuits and gravy, ok I guess. Asked if I could have eggs, only because there’s a burger with eggs. ” no sorry, we Can’t do that. ” OK, ordered, ate, but when people came in at 11:30 and were served breakfast. That was a huge turnoff. Maybe they were local- locals. Still tough pill to swallow. We have come here for the Famous huckleberry cheesecake for years.maybe talk to staff, about this thanks.
