January 6, 1990, marks a great milestone in my life. 30 years ago I landed at JFK International Airport in New York from Monrovia, Liberia. Born in 1964 in Monrovia, moved to Lebanon in 1974 with my parents, I then returned to the place of my birth, Monrovia, Liberia in 1989. I left 3 months later to escape their civil war to begin my adventure in the United States.
Traditional Mediterranean & Lebanese dishes & a full bar offered in a warm, refined atmosphere.

Pardon my half eaten photos, I took the after I’d already munch a piece off each plate (couldn’t wait!)
The downtown location is convenient and clean, and the staff is friendly and welcoming.
I’d definitely come back again.
We split a few appetizers and I also shared an entree and a salad with one other person. Here’s what I tried:
– Hummachos ($15): These were so good! The highlight of the meal for sure.
– Hummus ($10): I’ve had better, this was just fine.
– Labneh ($8): Decent.
– Vegetarian Grape Leaves ($10): I liked that they were warm. Fine.
– Falafel Plate ($14): Very disappointing! Just 3 measly falafel balls, hummus, tahini, parsley, and we chose fries as our side. Nothing special.
– Fattoush Salad ($12): Good.
Pretty average. We weren’t blown away.
We found street parking right in front of the restaurant. Walked in and were immediately seated.
We were greeted with warm pita and a wonderfully seasoned olive oil dip. The menu is excellent – very difficult to make a decision because everything sounded so good!
I finally chose the Mediterranean shrimp with sauted vegetables (zucchini, squash, peppers, and mushrooms). Dinner came with a perfectly sized salad.
Dessert …. what else?! Baklava! It was wonderful and left me wanting more.
Overall, Nadim’s was a little pricy – especially with no ‘adult beverages’ – but I would definitely go again when in the area!
