We love The Common Man. It’s always been great, but we haven’t visited in a while. We were really sad to see that they renovated the first floor and it looks ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! They did away with everything that made the place unique, and now it looks super generic, like Cracker Barrel and Chili’s had a baby. Whomever had the idea to do the renovation should be put on an iceberg and set adrift at sea. I’ve attached photos so you can see how beautiful it was before, and how bland it is now. So disappointing.

I think it might have been my favorite meal in America (and I live in New York). The atmosphere, history, the staff — all add to the cozy “at home” feel. All of the food we ordered was absolutely delicious and very very consistent. Will definitely be back once in the area! Thank you!!

We’ve been going to this place for many many year and had kind of written it off because they’ve struggled so hard to get consistent staffing (that can cook) since covid. We got a gift certificate and were using it… it seems like they’ve turned the corner and started to return to bring a quality restaurant. They are good about comping meals if you bring a mistake to their attention, but I think everyone just rants to get a good meal. It’s good to see them getting it back together.

My husband and I came for a late lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. I ordered the pork pork mac & cheese, which was excellent. my husband ordered pot roast, which was tender and so much meat. He couldn’t even finish the vegetables and he’s a big eater. I love to decor and the atmosphere is very pleasant. Might’ve found my favorite place to eat!

From the beginning it started great, i called ahead and spoke to someone who assured me there wasnt many folks there and gluten free was available. Upon arrival the person at the front desk Brian, seemed flustered and was overwhelmed. Kegan was able to step up and help get things in motion to care for us guests. We arrived at the same time as multiple other parties, the waitress Emily was very friendly and able to help a few of us in the bar area. Though the kitchen was out of a large portion of the proteins being a holiday weekend we were able to enjoy the Rooster gluten free and my partner enjoyed the Shepards pie which looked like heaven! I hope our next visit is met under better circumstances.

Excellent service! Delicious food!
We had arancini, flat bread, street corn dip, veggie burgers, street corn bowl and apple pie empanadas
Besides the veggie burgers being a bit dry and the apple pie being okay-ish, all the other dishes were perfect! They were happy to modify the dishes to make them vegetarian
The servers were super sweet, and fast
They also had complementary cheese and crackers, Parmesan bread rolls, apple bread and white chocolate.
They also had old printed advertisements, post cards and magazines for sale, great collection

Fall salad and New England pot roast dinner was delicious. I liked the creaky wood floors, and the wooden screen door closing mechanism- a rope through a pulley rigged up to the ceiling, tied to a paint can!

And all the years dining here I have overlooked a hidden gem on the menu! The apple walnut crusted chicken was absolutely amazing!! The cream sauce is OUT OF THIS WORLD! Well done Common Man chefs once again!
The real star of the show last night however, was our server Rianne! Super attentive, excellent recommendations (hence my find) and just so passionate about what she’s a part of there! We will be back for her AND the amazing food 🙂

Good service! The people working there are great. The place too crowded but still managed to get a place in the bar. Food was food, hot, good flavor and size perfect.
