I I was never rude initially I greeted the man behind the counter made small talk and told them I was from B Chicago just gotten back few weeks ago . I was informed my order would just take a bit longer . I requested lemon pepper on the fries and was told that it was already on there. Propaganda at its finest. Mile sauce don’t even taste like mild sauce, taste like it’s watered down. They don’t give refunds. Horrible customer service. Incompetent asked for more sauce he says ok. Asked how many sauces are In the bag and he says 2. I ask for more sauces and offer to buy them the man throws his head as if he’sa horse and it is an inconvenience. I’m confused I thought employees were there to service the customer and make the business money .
Food trash.
Asking for extra sauce is rude apparently .. it was only after throwing his head as if he was a horse that I grew frustrated and stated you act like it’s an inconvenience I can pay for them . a
Italian beef not seasoned , hardly any cheese throughout the sandwhich. I asked for the Italian beef to be dipped and it was drenched leaking through the bag. Not even the correct peppers for the sandwich. The attached photo is how a itialn beef should look and there’s looked nothing of the sort.
Chicken tenders were a bit tough and dry, not really a fan of the tenders.
Hush puppies were okay.
Cat fish nuggets— 10/10
Tenders— 5/10
Hush puppies— 3.5/10
I had the smaller (1/2 lb) of the chicken gizzards. I’ve had chicken gizzards many times in the past, and I’ve had them from a few notable places in the area: Shinya Shokudo (Seattle), Ezell’s (Renton), & Friday’s Chicken (Kent)… just to name a few. JJ’s chicken gizzards didn’t have any metallic/iron taste that I associate with them, on average. This is ultimately a win, in my opinion. The breading was super crispy on them, and another huge bonus, was the dusting of Cajun dry seasoning they use on just about every fish/chicken item they sell (which they also sell by the shaker jar full). Locally, I put them up at the top of my list, next to Friday’s Korean fried chicken style gizzards. I’d be willing to try them side-by-side to see which is the ultimate winner.
And the staff? Again, so humble and polite! They had a little rush when we stopped in, but most were taking their food to go. There’s a window bar with stools, and a couple of tables filling the rest of the space, so we decided to eat there. The guy who took our order came out to check on us, even though he didn’t need to.
This place needs more local support! Get their catfish nuggets and don’t turn your nose up at the chicken gizzards! My only regret is we didn’t try the desserts or appetizers.
I complained about paying over $22 for a catfish lunch combo which didn’t even include a drink at that price, and they kindly suggested catfish nuggets as a less expensive alternative. I appreciated that and it was an extra crunchy alternative that was a pleasant surprise and almost half the price for a huge serving, piping hot made for me!
The tartar sauce is TERRIBLE and I would expect a place like this to have at least a semi-home made tartar available not this packaged food service gross kind.
I do look forward to eating here again and trying other menu options!
I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich which came with fries and the napoli pizza. My sister ordered the mushrooms and fish fillets which also included fries. The sandwich was straight forward in the best possible way. A sum of its parts, fluffy sandwich roll, thin chicken patty, mayo, lettuce, and tomato. It was not convoluted, over-seasoned, or super fancy, just a well made chicken sandwich that I would definitely get again. It reminded me of the original chicken sandwich from Burger King and I am not mad at that. The chicken patty is a bit thinner, but the flavor and sandwich were well balanced. The fries were as described, crispy outside and fluffy inside. In order to achieve the fluffy inside, the fries are slightly larger cut than typical shoestring fries but not quite as large as steak fries. The pizza was simply seasoned with a fluffy crust, but delicious. It may not be toe to toe with pizzeria pizza but it was tasty to me! I tried the mushrooms and they were probably the best fried mushrooms I have ever tried! Perfectly seasoned, hot, and crispy outside but juicy inside.
I enjoy food that is simple and straight forward and this place did not disappoint. The food is intentional and made by people who know their craft and I appreciate it.
