Cousin Basil’s is a good place to get good comfort food. We had chicken parm, lasagna, and fettuccini Alfredo. The service was good and the inside has a cozy cabin feel. I only wish the lasagna portion was bigger or came with a side dish.

Great Find Hidden near the Cook State Forest but so easy to pull in and out of right on Rt 36. They had a fun Mother’s Day Menu planned but I got 3 appetizers and a House Salad instead of an entree. The Stuffed Scallops were fantastic, the Shrimp Skewers on the appetizer menu were great and the Cheese Boat was fun and perfectly tasty. Would get all 3 of them again. I was by myself, so I sat at the bar but there is ample space inside for couples or families. The menu had something for everyone.

Tried the meatball sub here….it was definitely one of the best I’ve had! The restaurant itself is very nice and modern for the area. The staff was super friendly. Will definitely visit again when I’m back in the area!

We have had many very good meals at Cousin Basil’s, but my experience last weekend was not good at all. I ordered a steak salad. The reason being, I am not a big meat eater. I get the steak salad and I have (1) a nice salad (2) a few pieces of good steak and (3) a small order of fries. Was especially looking forward to the hand cut fries. My results: (1) Salad was OK. There was a lot of iceberg lettuce mixed in, which I do not care for. (2) Steak was very tough. Not so good. I was not given a steak knife for it and my butter knife failed to cut it at all. I asked for a steak knife and waited about 5 minutes for the steak knife to arrive. Not a long time, but my sort of hot steak was cooling down by the minute. (3) My hand cut fries were cold. Ice cold. So much so that I thought maybe they were cold on purpose because of the cold salad, but really, who would do that? I’m sure they got cold sitting while they made my husband’s meat loaf dinner. I know I should have complained about the fries, so my bad. Sometimes I wish I was a loud complainer, but I’m not. Then, the waitress who was very nice and friendly throughout the meal, disappeared while we were waiting for the check. Finally, we just went to the cash register to check out. And by the way, the restaurant was only about half full, so the staff was not being stretched. Cousin Basil’s was our go-to place when we are visiting Cook Forest, but I think we will be going in to Brookville to the Courthouse next time. I went home and ate cereal.

Your fried zucchini, best I ever had. Very thick pieces!!!!! And as someone who does NOT like tomato sauce, your’s was amazing. So not from a metal can.

Incredible resteraunt in the cooks forest area. It’s one of the best burgers I have had in a long time. I did not see any other items besides burgers since Monday is burger day. The atmosphere is very nice, with nice lighting and seating. It is on the higher end for prices, but it is worth it. The food came out perfect, and the wait time was short. The staff was very pleasant and answered all of the questions.
The only part that was minimal was trying to track down the waitress for refills. She didn’t come and ask either, but as she said, she was very nice, but also had a large table that she was taking care of. They have daily specials, and we will be back.

This place is a hidden gem! Fantastic appetizers, pizzas, and steak. You will walk into a spacious restaurant with
a is a beautiful wooden interior with a rustic touch. Our server was attentive and friendly. Drinks were very reasonable and we really enjoyed our meals. I would highly recommend cousin Basils for a date night, family meal, or even to bring the children to. It is a very open space and very relaxed thoroughly enjoyed our experience.

Very cozy, full of wood with a strong country vibe! Food was good but I think their menu is too large. I will return to try something else. Got the Ghoul Burger which was spicy and cooked well.

Such an amazing experience.

The last time I was here it was still under old ownership of the Iron Mountain and it was great back then and it’s even better now. From the moment I walked in the door the environment was classy and clean, every staff member was extremely kind and ready to serve, the table was very comfortable, the music choices where… Random to say the least but that’s probably the most I’ll complain. Every single thing we ordered was amazingly fresh, hot, and delicious. I included pictures of the food, the atmosphere, and even the extremely clean and well stocked restroom. The hostess was quick to seat us and happy to list off what was good, our server knew pretty much everything about the menu and what we asked her, as well as being extremely nice. 10/10 experience and I will most certainly be visiting again to try something different. The prices where average, not cheap but certainly not expensive, honestly its what you would expect to pay. I love seeing businesses like this do great and do nothing but please the guest and try to make a buck and Cousin Basils does an extremely good job.

Stopped in last night on our travels. Taco Tuesday. They were the worst tacos I’ve ever eaten ! Prime rib taco was dried out, chicken taco was kind of ok ( prob due to the others being so bad) , and the shrimp taco was disquisting! They used canned shrimp !!! Tasted like they weren’t even rinsed ! I can still kind of taste the shrimp today !! . Spinache artichoke dip was very tasty !!!Our waitress was very pleasant ! Atmosphere was good !! Sweet tea was good as well !!
