Part grocery store, part cafe, this little laid-back spot imports culinary treats from New Orleans.

Absolutely loved this place.
The New Orleans–style food was on point — everything we ordered was flavorful and comforting, especially perfect for sharing. You can tell a lot of care goes into the food.
The vibe is what really makes it special though. Cozy, lively, and genuinely feels like a little slice of New Orleans tucked away in LA. Great spot to hang out, eat, and actually enjoy your time without feeling rushed.
Cocktails were also very reasonably priced for the quality and atmosphere, which is rare these days. Solid drink selection, well made, and easy to enjoy more than one.
We’ll definitely be back — this place is a gem.

We went here on a whim, just cause seemed like a really cool spot. We came close to their afternoon closing so it wasn’t too busy. My goodness, the food was spectacular. We had the op boys special -sloppy Joe as well as the craw Mac deluxe. Service was great too. The have a huge assortment of really cool drinks. Jambalaya was fantastic! I will definitely come back to explore more items.

Was once one of my favorite spots, but the crabster is extremely small now. Soft shell crab was the size of a scallop! I called to let them know and they said they now use premium crabs that are bigger than they used to be. Normally I don’t complain but that was the only menu item I enjoyed from here. Their crawfish Mac is unseasoned and their salads use old lettuce. I’m letting you know so you at least don’t order those menu items. Disappointing to say the least.

Food was not seasoned at all! Heavy on the grease, did not receive the corn bread or French roll that was apart of our meal. Will not return or recommend! Now I’m stuck with an upset stomach and a pissed off husband we were told this was a great place to try little did we know it was NOT!

Went here on a Sunday afternoon (LSOB). Place wasn’t too busy. Parking is on the street, so it may be difficult to find a spot.
The inside has a lively vibe. Colorful, full of vintage decorations. I ordered a beignet and a café au lait with a muffaletta to go. The beignet was a little rough on the exterior, but very delicious. The powdered sugar adds a soft bite. The café was good, nothing special. I had the muffaletta later, and that was delicious!
Overall, I’d definitely come back to try their other items. We had just ate, so we really didn’t get a full dining experience. Their little market felt empty, but they had some good selections of creole and cajun seasonings and pre-made roux. Their bar next door is really cool too. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Dive bar New Orleans style with random playlist and tv playing an array of different things. Not fancy/cozy or anything -but Foods damn good for bar food and a nice change of pace. Not busy and not too bright.

We had some soul food plates and they were good. I wasn’t a big fan of cat fish but I never have been. The fried crab was so delicious! The gumbo was spicy favorably. The place is very unique and the staff is super friendly! People seem to buy the subs here more than the fried soul food.

I have been wanting to come here for the longest time. A friend of mine recommended the place. I finally got the chance to stop by and try the PO’boy. It was delicious and spicy just how I like it. If you’re visiting Olvera street you must stop by and try it. Let me know if you do.

Absolutely love this place You feel comfortable and at ease with the nostalgia of signs, posters, photos, food, and setting of being in a Louisiana atmosphere. There is so much to choose from and the portions are a good size. The food is good and I loved the fried pickles and sandwiches. There’s a variety of drinks to choose from and also groceries to purchase. They have the best chicory latte… it’s was amazing and well worth the travel. There’s plenty of room to eat inside and outside ;plus being able to enjoy a drink, watch tv… enjoy one another’s company. The staff is great and welcome you with professionalism. They are there the help and make great suggestions; the menu is located on the wall and on paper. So if you’ve never been there, it’s a must. It’s one of my daughter’s favorite places to go and it was my first time there and won’t be my last.

Authentic NOLA Street Cuisine in an Unexpected Place.
I can’t rave about Little Jewel more, it’s more like “hidden gem”, this is where I take people from out of town to eat and everyone loves it.
Highly recommend the catfish, it was breaded to perfection. Muffuletta was baked on a delicious focaccia and paired with spicy and salty lunch meats. Bread pudding was also a standout. However, I was really underwhelmed by the jambalaya, expected it to be the best thing here but it was pretty bland and unremarkable.
Do yourself a favor and save space at the end for coffee and warm beignets.
Would definitely recommend eating here immediately if you’re in Chinatown!
