The pizza was very good. The crust had great flavor and was genuinely delicious, and the toppings tasted fresh and high quality. Everything came out piping hot, which I always appreciate.
For my personal taste, there was a bit more flop than I like, and it leaned slightly on the greasy/oily side. If you’re someone who prefers a super thin, crunchy-style slice, this may not quite hit that mark.
That said, it’s still a strong option and definitely worth trying if you’re in the mood for a hot, flavorful pie.
The pizza was tasty overall, but extremely thin. If that’s your preferred pizza style, this spot is DEFINITELY for you!
Also, the slices are large as ever, what a bonus!
Their signature touch is the sesame seeds around the crust – such a unique and tasty detail! I also felt like they drizzle the slices with some kind of sauce, maybe honey-based, which makes the flavor even more interesting.
You can order a whole pizza (they’re huge!) or just a slice – but trust me, one slice is more than enough because they’re massive.
The vibe is great too: you can enjoy sitting inside or head out to the back patio, which is a nice option as well.
A really cool pizzeria – if you’re in Hamilton, this is a must-visit!
Pizza is also really good – wicked crispy crust. The spicy sausage pizza was unreal, but i thought the white pizza was a bit of a miss. I just think it was a missing a little something today.
Would definitely order from here again, and would honestly even do it just for the banana pudding.
1. the dough across the whole pizza was generally very dry especially for fresh pizza making it very crunchy when it should not have been
2. I think the pizza was so dry because it was over cooked, some parts were dark brown
3. There is simply wayyy to much semolina flour at the bottom of the pizza some of it was fresh while some of it was burnt indicating a bunch of left over semolina in the ovens, i was literally scraping it off the bottom from every slice I had, this is unacceptable and easy to fix
4. The flavors of some pizzas were essentially the same, the cheese pizza tasted identical to the pepperoni pizza and identical to the Margherita pizza. Meaning these pizzas lacked creativity and character, and just felt like they didnt care.
Bonus
1. Their crust is too wide, and I dont understand there sesame seed gimmick
2. Their placement of ricotta on their pizza leaves you with giants blobs of ricotta all over the pizza leaving you with a mouth full of ricotta when you just want a little bit at a time
3. From looking at other reviews they burn some pizzas and a cook others correctly, something else that can be easily fixed.
We tried the Elote Pizza, NY Cheese, and the Lasagna Pizza — and let me tell you, each one was a chef’s kiss. The flavors were bold, the crust was perfection, and the creativity? Next level.
Shorty’s isn’t just a pizza place — it’s officially our new Friday date night spot.
