This restaurant was nice. It’s at the top of the Aloft and Element hotels in Midtown. There were private events going on the night we went, and I feel like employees focus more on the big parties. We weren’t disappointed seated and forgotten about. The host came and asked us if a server ever came to talk to us. When a server did come out, my husband ordered an old fashioned and just got water because we had been traveling and was super dehydrated. My husband got the mushroom risotto, and I got the Chimichurri Chicken. He said his drink was good, and his risotto was salty. My food was very good, no complaints here. I think I wanted to try more things on the lunch menu though. So if I went back it would be for breakfast or lunch… when other people haven’t rented out a part of the restaurant .
Highlight ask for Alisha WONDERFUL SERVER 100/10) humble, respectful, checked on us a timely manner and very sweet.
Hope this detailed review can help you!
First let’s go with the place and location; The place is warm, modern and specious. You can choose to be at the bar (inside or outside) or table inside or at the terrace! (I find this to be more of a terrace than a rooftop as view is limited and is not really high)BUT do not get me wrong the view is nice. Seats and table are not the most comfy IN THE TERRACE but not bad. Also the place is located near stores/markets, walk ways with other amenities/ small park and hotels.
The food we ordered as starter was the ropa vieja tostones shooters which were delicious (tostones with shredded season beef and guacamole (9/10) more guac and too much onion and peppers.
Entrees my partner order the Salmon with white sauce and herbs (9/10) The salmon was just a little bit dry (and i agree but nothing that a lemon can’t fix).
I ordered the chimichurri roasted chicken and it came with potatoes and carrots (Taste 10/10) (7/10 in portion) It was delicious the chimichurri gave it that wonderful taste infuse with the carrots and the chimichurri just wow but the chicken was super super small (it looked like a teenage chicken). haha
Drinks we order espresso martini (strong and good) – overpriced for portion
Mango number .5 It missed a bit of more tropical flavor but still very good- extremely overpriced for the amount and quality.
Also they may change the menu often as it does not consist with other reviews items.

I cannot express how thankful I am for our amazing experience at Sal Y Mar. We visited for brunch, and I really wanted to try the shrimp and grits — but I was told they’re only served on weekends. To my surprise, the chef who created the menu personally came to our table and explained that she could make it for me if we didn’t mind waiting about 20 minutes.
We didn’t mind at all — the atmosphere was beautiful, the drinks were delicious, and I was enjoying quality time with my mom and grandmother. The wait went by quickly, and when the food arrived, it was absolutely worth it — perfectly cooked and full of flavor!
Our server, Aliyah, was outstanding — friendly, attentive, and the reason we got to meet Chef Samell in the first place. Meeting the chef was such a unique and special experience, and it made our brunch even more memorable.
Everything from the service to the food and ambiance was top-notch. Thank you, Aliyah and Chef Samell, for your kindness and hospitality. We can’t wait to come back!
We also had the opportunity to speak with Annette after dinner, and we shared how much we enjoyed everything. The DJ truly made the night; the energy was perfect, the music was on point, and honestly, I would come back just for him and the Pornstar Martini!
It was our first night out, and were so glad we chose Sal y Mar. Thank you for the hospitality and for creating such a memorable experience. We’ll definitely be back and will be recommending the restaurant to others.
The drinks were not only tasty but also came out quickly, which is always appreciated. I highly recommend stopping by and asking for Catherine, she truly elevated our visit. Will definitely be back!
When we arrived (a party of 15+) we were able to find a few tables near the heat lamps with the balcony view of tampa bay.
The vibe was very laid back and on point thanks to the DJ who had a nice array of music covering quite a few genres.
Over near the pool there is a great view of the skyline for photograph ops or just enjoying one of the great cocktails they served.
The staff was on their game and great with recommendations as well as with the classics.
I highly recommend a visit.
My only draw back is that it’s a rooftop venue so the dj ended at 11pm then it was just ambient music great for conversations
