5 Stars! A Must-Visit Local Gem –
Phil’s Filling Station!

Phil’s Filling Station is a true Fountain Hills treasure, a classic 50s-style diner that perfectly blends nostalgia, great food, and friendly service. Every Sunday from October through May from 10am-2pm, they host free car shows in the back parking lot, bringing in some of the coolest vintage rides around. It’s the perfect place to grab lunch and enjoy the classic car scene!
When it comes to the menu, Phil’s absolutely delivers. They have the best hamburgers and fries in town, along with incredible comfort food favorites like liver and onions, homestyle meatloaf, and crispy Wisconsin cheese curds. Their great big salads are fresh and flavorful, and there’s truly something for every diet, whether you’re craving hearty comfort food or something lighter.
Friday nights feature live music, making it a lively spot to kick back and unwind. The sports bar is terrific, with plenty of TVs so you’ll never miss your favorite team in action.
And of course, no visit is complete without saying hello to Emily, the best bartender in Fountain Hills! She’s always friendly, fun to talk to, and has the best recommendations for food and drinks.
If you’re looking for great food, great people, and great vibes, Phil’s Filling Station Grill is the place to be!

I enjoy Phil’s because it is a reminder of what diners used to be like. It isn’t run down in a sense that it feels off, but it’s simple, the folks are friendly, and they remember everyone’s name that goes in there. It’s a diner, so it’s classic diner food and an extensive menu. Both are great. You will get what you are expecting from this place

Stepping into the restaurant feels like a nostalgic journey back in time. As you cross the threshold, you’re immediately enveloped by an atmosphere steeped in history and tradition. The walls are adorned with an eclectic collection of old photographs, each telling a story of a bygone era, showcasing everything from classic sporting events to iconic moments in New York’s architectural evolution. The rich décor features vintage memorabilia, including prized sports artifacts and intricately designed model cars that spark a sense of wonder and curiosity.

As you explore this vibrant space, you can’t help but admire the black-and-white photos of the city’s skyline during its bustling construction days, alongside images of the people who built and lived in those historic buildings. This charming combination of nostalgia and Americana makes every corner a new discovery, igniting conversations and memories among fellow diners.

Despite the restaurant’s popularity and the buzz of conversation that fills the air, the service is impressively attentive. The staff, moving seamlessly among patrons, ensure that everyone feels taken care of, reflecting a dedication that stands out even during the busiest hours.

When it comes to the food, every dish is a celebration of flavor and generous portions. The biscuits and gravy, a standout on the menu, arrive perfectly cooked with a golden-brown crust and a rich, savory gravy that is seasoned to perfection. Each bite is a delightful blend of comfort and indulgence, leaving you craving more.

As you savor your meal, the ambiance is further enhanced by a classic car show held right behind the restaurant. Gleaming in the sunlight, vintage vehicles are showcased, their vibrant colors and glossy surfaces reflecting the charm of years gone by. It’s an ideal backdrop that complements your eating experience, inviting you to take a stroll and appreciate the craftsmanship of these timeless machines.

Even the restrooms, located conveniently at the back, maintain the high standards set by the overall establishment. Despite the steady stream of guests, they are surprisingly clean and well-maintained, showcasing the restaurant’s commitment to providing a pleasant experience from start to finish.

In a world that often feels too fast-paced, this restaurant stands out as a vibrant tribute to the past, where every meal served is not just about the food, but about the stories shared and the memories created. It’s a place where history, culture, and culinary delight come together, making each visit a truly memorable experience.

Food was fine. Used to eating good food though so I am picky eater. Plenty of options. Big serving size. Staff was friendly and attentive. The Coca cola theme was a nice touch. Location was good and central for activities. Atmosphere was relaxed.

Diners Beware!

This restaurant may have high reviews and a charming, nostalgic interior, but don’t be fooled. The food is overpriced, low-quality, and straight from a food service supplier.

As soon as we saw the menu, we should have left. The prices were shockingly high compared to what was implied in their reviews, and the website conveniently hides the prices altogether.

We ordered three lunch meals, and the total was $86. The cod and chips were disappointing—thin, flavorless fish with no substance. I had to send back the salad because the lettuce was white and yellow, clearly from a bag and completely inedible. I swapped it for the French Onion soup, which turned out to be the worst soup I’ve ever had, both in taste and presentation.

The Arizona burger was okay but absolutely not worth $19. The worst offender was the lobster and shrimp sub—it was simply horrible and unfit to eat.

To top it all off, our waitress was rude and inattentive. She never refilled our water, and when I sent back the salad, she ran her nails through it, asking what was wrong. Her bad attitude extended to other tables, including a group of elderly diners who received the same poor treatment.

If you value your money and a decent dining experience, skip this place. The $86 would have been better spent elsewhere—or even burned. Don’t let the cute interior fool you into thinking the food matches the vibe.

Took a trip back to Fountain Hills after 20yrs not seeing her. My mom used to live in FH and her ashes are their now. Got to stop into Phil’s and eat the taco salad she loved…..smaller than back in the days but still wonderful. Saw the fountain go off and had a good visit. I’ll be back sooner this time. My mom was Lynda Brown and Everybody called her Chicago if you knew her, you were blessed!

Just recently moved to FH and looked around at some local food places and figured I’d give Phil’s a try. Had a lot of positive reviews and I like to support local businesses first before chains so I was excited to order food from Phil’s. Food was 54$ for take out and the chicken Alfredo had no flavor whatsoever…. I was really disappointed because of how excited I was to try it, good portions but food was very bland and flavorless…

I understand all prices have gone up but theirs are Really high, which would be ok if the food was Really good but it wasn’t. My prime rib sandwich was dry and dull. It was to have a horseradish sauce on it but didn’t and the discretion said grilled crispy onions, they were frings like you get the a chip bag. They charged extra for onion rings, fine but they only gave us 4 yes 4 onion rings. W.T.H?! Very Not Impressed at all! There’s got to be a better bar/grill in fountain hills I just need to find it next time. Sorry guys… Great service though.

Very cute decor. Service was very slow and they finally told us the computers were down. We asked if they could just write down the order and give it to the kitchen, and they finally did that but it took a good 30 minutes to get our food. The servers were trying the best they could but they could’ve let us know earlier what was going on. Then took quite a while to get our bill which they had to write manually. The BLT plus avocado sandwich was OK. So were the wings and potato skins.
