A great place some delicious south Indian breakfast and lunches. The idly was wonderful, but the tomato chutney has been a hit or miss , for the multiple visits we had to this place. The coconut chutney is truly delicious though. The mysore masala dosa was pretty good too.

Had breakfast here with my friends and we absolutely loved the food. The sambar wada dipped was especially delicious and full of authentic South Indian flavor. The restaurant was very clean, well-maintained, and had a pleasant aroma throughout. The staff was friendly, helpful, and made us feel welcome. Overall, a great breakfast experience. would definitely visit again and recommend it to others.

We ordered benne masala dosa and got served with a nice looking butter fried puri (extremely unhealthy version) – They probably should need to add a disclaimer “May cause heart attack”.
We had to throw away this dosa due to the safety concerns. And even then, just because we had 2-3 bites of it, all 3 of us have stomach upset. (This is when I decided to give this honest review). I hope this would help someone who may be deciding to order benne masala dosa.
Idli and Vada were pretty good though.

Great place to have a good dosa and South Indian cuisine as a whole. We tried the tiffin, ghee podi masala dosa everything was of great quality. I had visited twice and found a little difference in quality but definitely a great try.

Overall the food was great. Didn’t enjoy the benne dosa. Everything else definitely recommend. Service was great as well. Would recommend if you are looking for a South Indian restaurant. They provide refill of the green and red chutney.

We chanced upon the restaurant on a walk from the Courtyard Marriott we were staying at. Lines were long in the evening and so we decided to come back next day for breakfast. Had Ghee Podi Dosai and Onion Dosai. With tip, we paid $34.44. We then decided to have an early dinner before returning to So Cal and ordered Ghee Dosai and Mylapore Special Dosai. Since we were there before 6 pm, we got happy hour rates of $8.99/dosai (before tax & tip). All dosais were excellent, and I will say that the ghee dosais surpassed the quality of many a reputed Dosai joints in South India. The sambhar and coconut chutney were excellent. Tomato chutney was more average. In the evening, they offered all guests free tasty vada balls before seating, which was very welcoming. The service was prompt. We got extra chutneys both times on asking. In the morning, the plates were lined with banana leaf; by evening, they seemed to have run out of that. Free hot jeera water was also a homely touch. The decor is average and the place gets crowded. But if you care for delicious dosai, head over to Mylapore, Pleasanton.

The restaurant provided an impressive experience for our family despite a long wait to be seated. Host Rakesh was exceptionally attentive—he kindly arranged an outdoor table with heaters for us and frequently checked in to ensure we were comfortable. The level of service really stood out.
We ordered the Benne Masala Dosa, which was deliciously flavorful but turned out to be quite spicy. Chef Anand noticed that it might be too spicy for the kids, so he thoughtfully sent over a ghee dosa just for them at no extra charge. This gesture showed true hospitality and genuine care for guests.
Both the service and food were outstanding, making this restaurant highly recommended for families who appreciate that extra touch of attention and kindness.

The best South Indian restaurant in the US. I have tried each and every dish in the menu, and not even one on the list has disappointed me. I’m a very big South indian cuisine fan, and I’m from the authentic South Indian food lover family. 30 yrs of eating in Saravana Bhavan, Anna Lakshmi, and Annapurna, and it’s not easy to satisfy someone who got used to these restaurants. Hats off to Jay for giving us such a great South Indian food experience. I travel to San Ramon from Denver at weekends just to have food here. Thanks to Frontier, too.
PS: Jay, I’m a big fan of your mom’s cooking (from Youtube).
09/01: I had lunch on 8/30 and 9/01 at Mylapore. Specifically booked my tickets from Denver, CO to Oakland and drove to Pleasenton and had lunch. Amazing as usual and absolutely no disappointment. Recently I tried all the “Thogayal” from Monday to Sunday and I loved each and every bit of the cooking.

I’ve been a frequent customer since the restaurant first opened, and I truly appreciate how they’ve consistently maintained quality over the years. I also like that they proactively offer chutney and sambar without customers having to ask.
However, today was disappointing for the first time. I visited during happy hours, and the sambar was extremely watery and lacked flavor, which prompted me to write this review. I hope this was just a one-off and that the restaurant continues to maintain its usual high quality.

I had a wonderful experience at Mylapore in Pleasanton, and I especially want to appreciate the manager, Mr. Mohamed Rabeek. He greets guests with such a warm, genuine smile and makes you feel truly welcome from the moment you walk in.
The dosas are absolutely delicious and instantly reminded me of home in India, authentic, comforting, and full of flavor. You can really feel the care and hospitality behind the food and service.
Thank you, Mr. Rabeek, for creating such a welcoming atmosphere and maintaining the quality that keeps us coming back. Highly recommend this place for anyone craving authentic South Indian food and heartfelt service.
