Darlene’s Shrimp Shack may be “just” a food truck with a simple menu, but wow—do they know what they’re doing in the kitchen! The fried shrimp, both breaded and naked, were outstanding. We especially loved the Cajun seasoning, but the naked and lemon pepper were also really tasty. The hush puppies with a kiss of jalapeño were absolutely divine.
We loved it so much our first night that we went back again the very next day. The ambiance is what you’d expect from a roadside food truck—pretty basic—but if you time it around sunset, you’ll catch a gorgeous view. Add in the upbeat music and you almost forget you’re right off the street. Plenty of folks were grabbing to-go orders, but it also makes for a fun, low-key date night spot.
We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in Galveston!

We were looking for some seafood after a day at the beach and decided to check out Darlene’s. It was delicious! Shrimp is generously sized and obviously fresh. Hush puppies were yummy too. We ate at the picnic tables outside which was perfect since we were still in our beach attire. It’s a perfect place to grab some takeaway. Darlene’s will definitely be a stop on our next beach day!

We were in Galveston looking for a fried shrimp fix and found Darlene’s Shrimp Shack. We pulled in a thought about leaving as it was a food truck parked in a lot with a few tables. However, after we got our meal, we were both glad we stayed. The shrimp were fresh, seasoned well and cooked to perfection. The seasoned fries were good as well. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
If you’re in Galveston, don’t mind a basic dining experience, and like fried shrimp, Darlene’s might just punch your ticket.

Tried the coconut shrimp and the pecan crusted shrimp. Massive serving and my brother and I ate every single one!! Sheer perfection with the shrimp and the best hush puppies I’ve had in decades.

Great quality shrimp and cute place! Our group ordered the Regular, Cajun, garlic parm, and coconut shrimp. Regular shrimp was by far the best flavor and cooked the best, followed by coconut, Cajun, and garlic parm. Unfortunately the Cajun was too salty for me and the garlic parm toppings were a little excessive – it also made the shrimp soggy. The crab sticks were good but the batter was also salty. The fries were seasoned well and tasty. The music of choice was a little odd and there were birds hanging around while eating. Overall, I’d recommend trying it out if you love shrimp – we all got very full!

This food truck has the ABSOLUTE BEST fried shrimp I have ever eaten! If you are in Galveston or anywhere near, it is 100% worth the trip, you will not be disappointed. My family loves the Cajun fried shrimp and the garlic Parmesan fried shrimp, it’s the best!!

Wow. This might be the best wild caught shrimp I’ve had in a long time. Got the lemon pepper and pecan crusted shrimp. Wow. It’s amazing. Comes with hush puppies that are also tasty. Great service, great views.

What a cool place! Huge delicious coconut shrimp. The sauce was great. Not super thick and sticky, it was a nice thinner sauce with a little bite. Perfect with the sweetness of the coconut. This will be our go to in Galveston. Loved the outdoor atmosphere. Eating our shrimp watching the sunset was really nice. Wishing you continued success!

Its good! Is it the best? Who knows. I am not a huge tartar sauce fan but theirs with the dill is easily the best. As is the entertainment in their outdoor dining area. Mockingbird? These are your Texas state birds. 5 stars must visit. Great shrimp & entertainment.
