This is actually a very pleasant place, we visited it twice during our stay.
The outdoor seating is especially nice: the city noise, the movement around, and the general Roman atmosphere make it a comfortable spot to sit and observe the city. The staff was polite and attentive.
The food was really good. We tried both desserts and savory options, including sandwiches and Roman pizza. The menu is clearly tourist oriented, but the quality is solid, portions are fair, and prices are not exaggerated for the location.
The coffee was very good, and the Franciacorta was always pleasant choice.
Overall, a well-kept and enjoyable place, not meant to be a hidden gem, but a reliable option in the city center.
The service was professional, attentive, and very pleasant, without being intrusive. It’s the perfect place for a relaxed lunch, a dinner, or even just a coffee while enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of Rome.
I truly enjoyed my experience and would absolutely recommend Ciampini to anyone visiting Rome.
We recommend visiting this restaurant. While the prices are little bit higher, the portions, service and quality are excellent. The staff is professional, very friendly, and helpful.
This was the best pizza that I’ve had in Italy.
Over the course of a few trips to Italy, I’ve probably had close to 50 pizzas and this one takes the top spot.
The biggest difference was the char. The crust and undercarriage was cooked to perfectly. Crispy, light, but pliable and delicious.
The sauce and cheese were just as good as any other pizza that I’ve had – fresh and tasty.
The diavola had a habanero glaze that provided an extra punch without being too spicy.
It was satisfying but not overly filling. Special pie.
I ordered a cappuccino, and a maritozzo. The coffee was decent, nothing special but fine. The maritozzo, however, was quite soggy, probably from the day before. I paid €4.50 in total, as it’s cheaper without table service (prices are higher if you sit outside).
If you’re just looking to take a nice photo in a typical Italian café, it’s okay — but otherwise, not really a must.
I was at this place on February 27, 2026, around 4:40 PM, and the male employee working at the ice cream counter behaved in a way that was not only unprofessional, but openly hostile and discriminatory. If this is how he treats customers, he should not be working in customer service at all.
When I tried to order two scoops of ice cream, I was completely ignored. I greeted him politely, and his response was to roll his eyes, look at me with visible disgust, and wordlessly point at the card payment machine — without taking my order, without speaking, without any explanation.
Moments later, my girlfriend ordered after me, and his behavior changed instantly. He greeted her, smiled at her, spoke politely, and respectfully held out the card terminal. When she chose her flavors, he served her normally and without hesitation.
When it was my turn again, I was once more ignored. When I asked whether I could finally get my ice cream, he reacted with the same contemptuous attitude, treating me like I was a nuisance rather than a paying customer. Every action was accompanied by an annoyed, disgusted expression.
I paid close attention to how he treated other customers. He was friendly, polite, and respectful — until a customer appeared who looked similar to me.
Based on everything I witnessed, I am convinced that this treatment was racially motivated. I am half Black, and it was painfully obvious that this employee had a problem with that.
This experience was humiliating, disturbing, and completely unacceptable. No one should ever be treated this way. I left feeling angry, disrespected, and shocked that such behavior is tolerated.
