I was in the area and wanted to eat dim sum without going all the way down to Chinatown so I planned to go here for lunch. Let me first tell you do not go eat at sang kee in the reading terminal market, it is the worst, you can go to the one in Chinatown and is much better, then you have this one in the upscale rich area which to me are the best of all. The place open at 11:30am on a Saturday, I was there with my family at around 11:45, by noon the place was pretty much packed and full. You can just tell by how well a restaurant do when it’s that full by lunch time. First I have been there few times when I was working around the area, the food have been good, the price of course are so much higher now than years ago, the food quality haven’t drop in my opinion but I think it can do better. I am from Hong Kong so yes I do know what all the real dim sum should taste like. I ordered the usual I like the roasted duck and roasted pork rice platter, the duck and the pork itself taste very good, however the price is at least few dollars more than Chinatown and I understand this place is at the rich area. The bbq pork bun is fine, however the bun itself was easily crumble and this should not happen. The spare ribs need more flavor. The fried pork dumpling is ok, the dough is a little different than what I am used to it’s not as flaky as it should be. The fried shrimp ball is decent, then we have chicken and broccoli for my son, for what it’s worth, this American dish actually came out more flavorful than all the dim sum I had. The fried dough rice roll is very crispy which is good. My favorite dim sum will be the lotus sticky rice chicken which I found tasty. The scrambled eggs and shrimp over rice I thought it will be more silky but my wife loved so that’s fine. Overall I had a taste of variety of dim sum and food, I can tell which food is up to Cantonese standards and which one isn’t. There are food that I would go to Chinatown for the real authentic as close to Hong Kong as possible, but if I am in the area and don’t feel like driving down there this will do.

We visited the restaurant today for dim sum as a “Dry Run” before Chinese New Year. Gotta say ALL dishes were excellent. The steamed pork buns melted in your mouth, beef ho fun, Shumai, hargaw, spring rolls, congee, beef tripe, chicken feet, shrimp noodle, king Shumai, sticky rice and so much more were off the charts! Server, Han was very helpful and made our visit very accommodating. Can’t wait to return for the CNY menu and celebration!

I don’t know if I already reviewed sang ke as I have been coming here for almost 20 years. There food is outstanding, there service attentive, some of the staff have been there for over 20 years and know there customers and are happy to see you every-time. We had some dimsum and a bok choy dish for our vegi. We ordered many dimsum dishes and took most of it home. You can judge a dimsum restaurant by there Hargao and there’s is delicious, there shumai is plump juicy and just the right seasoning., turnip cake with shrimp and pork is excellent and I always like to take home and reheat in the air fryer.Shrimp balls amazing, there beef trip so tasty, sticky rice delectable, and there crispy rice ball filled with ground seasoned pork is to die for. I love this place and is been our best place for Cantonese and dimsum for many years and many more years to come.

I’ve been to other Sang Kee locations and since I was in the area, I wanted to stop by for lunch.

I was debating what to go with since the prices have definitely gone up a bit since I had last been to one of their restaurants. I’m a fan of their shrimp dumplings so I decided on the house noodle soup and wontons in chili oil.

The wontons came out first. The good is they’re really tasty. I kept the leftover spicy sauce to use in my soup. They’re hot, but not overwhelmingly so. The wontons are a little small, so a serving of 10 for $12 felt slightly steep.

The house noodle soup was good. It has quite a lot in it; the roast pork, chicken, shrimp, shrimp dumplings, bok choy, carrots, snap peas, mushrooms, and the egg noodles. Pretty close to what I remember, but I think the dumplings have gotten smaller as well. They used to be pretty stuffed with a nice chewy, “bouncy” bite. Now they’re a little more loose and not as full.

Staff is really great and attentive. The menu has a lot of options and if I was with others, I’d love to have gotten some of my other old favorites.

Wonderful experience at this casual Asian bistro where I brought my friend to celebrate her birthday! Service was on point and they even gave us a free ice cream dessert with a candle to celebrate my friend’s big day.

We ordered the eggplant, chicken with brown sauce, and roasted pork with pecking duck. The dishes tasted excellent and they were plentiful, meaning we had lots of extra food to take home.

Pro-tip: the leftovers tasted just as good the next day!

All in all, I very much enjoyed the experience at Sangkee and I will be back soon.

I have been to numerous Sang Kee locations, but I was the least impressed with the food here.

The service and ambiance was fine, but in terms of flavor with the food, this location was the weakest.

It wasn’t horrible by any means, but for the name value and price point, I’d expect it to be better than average.

Maybe I’ll give it another shot in the future.

We try to go here every time we are in the Philadelphia area visiting our son. We cannot get Dim Sum anywhere near us, so we mostly enjoy many of their delicious Dim Sum dishes. We also enjoyed the General Tso and Chow Fun with chicken. We were so excited to talk with our friends, I forgot to take pictures of the beautifully served Dim Sum, but got part of the two main dishes. The restaurant is very popular and I’ve been told there is sometimes a short wait for a seat. We have always gone at lunch and have never (in the few times we have gone), never had a problem getting a table. It would be worth the wait! I have a feeling it can get very noisy when the restaurant is full, so going at off hours should be much more quiet. There are so many dishes I want to try, I wish we lived closer.

Had a pleasant family lunch here. We ordered the family meal for 4, which was a cool experience. The food came out in waves and was great, especially the lamb chop (5/5). I try to avoid fried foods for my health but the fried fish was scrumptious! Pro tip: if you are feeling adventurous, instead of the westernized family meal from the English menu, ask for the authentic family meal from the Chinese menu which contains more traditional dishes. The service was friendly and the atmosphere of this restaurant is chill. I would love to come here again. 4.8/5
