There couldn’t be a better quote than what’s on their shirts, “Soul food at its finest”. Visiting from Virginia and needed my Fish Friday meal of the week. This spot didn’t disappoint at all. Even better than I expected!

It is extremely disheartening to encounter such a lack of professionalism not once, but twice in a single afternoon. After leaving another restaurant only a few miles away due to unacceptable service, I arrived here hopeful for a better experience. Unfortunately, the disappointment continued!! Here we go!!!

Hours of operation stated 12pm on the door. At precisely 12:13 p.m., the doors were unlocked by a young woman with red braids in a bun while more than a dozen patrons, myself included, waited outside. Rather than opening the door fully or offering a greeting or apology for the delay, she simply unlocked it and walked away. The gentleman behind the counter was equally indifferent, no acknowledgment, no explanation, no courtesy extended. Other customers informed me that this is typical, that the restaurant frequently opens late, and that one is expected to simply tolerate it because “the food is worth it.” If an establishment can’t consistently adhere to its posted hours, the honest solution is to adjust them, not to leave paying customers standing outside!

The challenges continued once inside. I asked about yams, only to be told they would not be ready for another hour, after we had already waited nearly fifteen minutes in line. Having traveled from Georgia with my brother to support this establishment, we reluctantly agreed to wait. What followed only reinforced my disappointment.

The ordering process was disorganized and unwelcoming. There were no menus in sight, and when I asked a basic question about the number of sides included, it should have been apparent that I was unfamiliar with the system. Instead of assistance, I was met with dismissiveness. My brother inquired about collard greens, to which the employee, identified as Edmond, replied with a casual shake of the head and, “Nope, no collards.” When I selected the fried chicken, Edmond made an inappropriate comment about not “calling the Nation” on me, presumably because I bypassed the pork chops. This was an unprofessional and unnecessary remark that only underscored the lack of respect shown throughout our visit.

As for the food itself, the black-eyed peas and yams were acceptable, but the fried chicken was dry. For two meals totaling $38, the quality of food did not begin to justify the discourtesy and inefficiency we endured.

I say this not as someone expecting perfection, but as someone who values professionalism, consistency, and respect in any business, regardless of who owns it. It is time we hold establishments accountable for more than just their food. A restaurant should not be excused for chronic lateness, indifference, and inappropriate behavior simply because “the food is good.” True hospitality is about the entire experience.

Until this establishment prioritizes professionalism and customer respect as much as it does its recipes, I can’t in good conscience recommend it.

Listen, we have to do better!!!

You can’t just put anything on a plate and expect “paying customers” to accept it. To show up at 3:45 (close at 6) on a Sunday and there ain’t greens, turkey wings, yams is truly unacceptable. So I have to order unseasoned pork chops, horrible mac and cheese, and simple canned corns. The way the chicken looked, there was no way I was ordering that.

This is my first time ever leaving a review for any experience at a restaurant, but this restaurant was the straw. You can not do your best for a “influencer” and then serve the everyday hard workers slop.

I WILL NO LONGER GIVE MY MONEY TO ANY RESTAURANT THAT DON’T VALUE ME AS A CUSTOMER AND VALUE THE PRODUCT THE PLACE BEFORE ME.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY AT THIS PLACE.

I love St. Louis and I know it ain’t easy to run your own business but you can’t expect people to patronize your establishment and you don’t stand on or care about what you serve.

Two separate plates in photos.

I was really disappointed with my experience at Diner Delight. The food was extremely inconsistent and honestly tasted like cheap frozen meals rather than freshly prepared dishes. The mac and cheese tasted like something straight out of a low-quality frozen dinner, bland and processed. The yams were watery with no real flavor, and the mashed potatoes had a chalky texture that made them hard to enjoy.
The Salisbury steak was especially disappointing; it clearly tasted like pre-packaged frozen food. I honestly felt like I could have saved my money and just bought a TV dinner from the grocery store.
Overall, the quality just wasn’t there, and I expected much better. I won’t be returning.

Food was amazing and so filling, my husband’s favorite was the cabbage, he didn’t stop talking about it all week! We told them it was our first time, and they came over to talk and make sure everything was okay. Good service, good food, good vibes.

My wife and I are from central Florida visiting relatives here in St Louis, and we’re always looking for good food and that taste of home. Well, Diners delight definitely knocked it out the ballpark! They will definitely be our go to spot when we come back to visit! The food, the people, and atmosphere were great. If you’re in town make sure you stop by for some great food. Love this place!

First time here and it was delicious!! The wings were cooked fresh and so good! All the sides tasted good except the Mac and cheese and I think it was because it was the end of the pan, kinda dry. Customer service was excellent! Very nice and friendly. Plenty of room to sit inside or outside on a patio. Reasonable priced. Would definitely love to come back and have more.

MJ and I had read some reviews about this place and how it served good soul food. We thought we would give it a try. The experience was so-so at best. Parts of both our meals were disappointing.

She had pork chops that were dry. The Mac and cheese, which we both had, did not have a cheesey taste. The greens she ordered tasted like like they came out of a can with pepper added. I was happy with the fried chicken that I had. The black-eyed peas l selected were very good. MJ liked the dressing she chose. We were happy with our desserts, banana pudding for MJ, yellow cake with chocolate icing for me.

This is not to say this is a bad choice for soul food, but we have had better. There was a good-sized line inside the diner, so a lot of people like at least some of the food. The set-up is that of a cafeteria, so there is no table service. Read the reviews and judge for yourself.

This the 2nd time my husband brought this home and I told him make it his last. This food is awful. There is NO seasoning in this food. It’s as if they cook for people with dietary restrictions. The spaghetti is disgusting. Clearly they just poor sauce on top of unseasoned beef because had they actually cooked the sauce it would be darker. The mashed potatoes seems like they’re out of a box and again no s&p or butter. The Salisbury steak is a pre-portioned patty with already made gravy poured on top. This was a waste of whatever money he spent.

Good food. The cabbage was delicious/”delight”ful. Seriously, the food was really good and the cooked to order wings and fries were fresh. We also had the Thursday special, which included beef ribs in gravy.
