Our server, Juan, was very welcoming and attentive and brought us drinks right away. Coffee was strong and delicious.
For food we ordered the Oreo Cookie pancakes with a side of eggs and bacon, Shrimp and Ricotta Frittata, and a breakfast burrito with Jurassic Pork upgrade.
The Oreo Cookie pancakes were honestly the best thing we ordered. They were cooked perfectly, fluffy and flavorful with crunchy cookie topping on each layer.
To be completely honest, I was not a fan of the Shrimp and Ricotta Frittata. It was soggy which was slightly unpleasant to consume. It also needed a lot of seasoning. The shrimp was cooked well, but the overall flavor was lacking. I probably won’t order that again. The house potatoes that came with the frittata were perfect, lots of crispy potato skins, probably the best house potatoes I’ve had in a while.
Breakfast Burrito was good, but my husband said he wasn’t sure he’d pay to add Jurassic Pork next time. Overall, he wasn’t wowed by it.
Next time we come back we plan on exploring more of their menu and give some other dishes a try. Definitely recommend pancakes and house potatoes!
The service was also top-notch. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They made us feel right at home, which is something I really value when dining out. It’s rare to find a place that delivers great food and great vibes so effortlessly.
Another thing I really appreciated about Breakfast Republic is that it felt like one of the few places in San Diego with some true diversity… both in the people and the atmosphere. It made the experience even more enjoyable and gave it a sense of community and inclusiveness that stood out.
Overall, it’s a must-visit breakfast spot. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the overall experience made me want to come back. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the food, while tasty, didn’t completely blow me away, but everything else absolutely did. A wonderful place to start your day!
The coffee was their house blend, orange juice was freshly squeezed. I ordered their Breakfast Sammie, it was delicious it had a sauce that was sweet and savory, the house potatoes were cooked perfectly crispy outside soft inside. My husband had their Breakfast Tostadas they were equally delicious, fresh, and seasoned well.
If you’re in the San Diego area check them out for some great breakfast.
When I went to pay the bill for my part of a six person party we were told they could only take three cards per table which we were not made aware of when they sat us down.
Tldr- decent food, sluggish/forgetful service and if you have a large party ask beforehand about how to split the bill
