Friendly staff. Good size portions. Made fresh. The special house made spices are great. A good amount of heat but not so hot you dont enjoy the other flavors.
We have been coming here for over 10 years.
Well, color me impressed because this place actually comes awfully close to the real deal. I’ve had the genuine article at Reading Terminal Market in Philly, and while nothing beats standing shoulder-to-shoulder with locals yelling “wit’ whiz” at the counter, this shop delivers a cheesesteak that made me stop, smile, and say, “Okay Utah, I see you.”
Now, there’s one minor issue: they don’t use actual Cheese Whiz. And if you’re a purist, you know that’s basically sacrilege in Philadelphia. But hey, I get it, maybe Utah isn’t ready for liquid gold cheese product straight from the can. Baby steps.
As for sides? Don’t expect fries, onion rings, or some fancy aioli. Nope. You get… chips. Bags of chips. A glorious rack of crunchy, crinkly potato companions. Honestly though, you don’t even need them. These cheesesteaks are the right size, the right heft, and they’ll fill you up faster than you can say “Rocky Balboa.”
The staff? Extremely courteous and helpful. When I ordered my first time, they didn’t even laugh at me when I nearly shouted “One wit’ whiz!” out of habit. Instead, they just smiled kindly, like, “Bless his heart, he thinks we’re in Philly.”
Bottom line: If you’re in Utah and craving a cheesesteak, this is as close as you’re going to get without hopping a plane east. Just don’t ask for Cheese Whiz, you’ll get a blank stare and probably a bag of Doritos instead.
So, if you want an authentic cheesesteak, make the trek to this humble strip mall shop (don’t let that fool you, it’s very homely inside), and leave full and delighted.
