The food and desserts are really good…love the bean dip and shredded beef tacos…the last time we were there (first week of May) the service was horrible. I’ll try not to let 1 bad experience ruin the image but if it happens again this rating will change as well as us not going there again. So hopefully that was a fluke! Drinks are good as well!

They only get three stars because it did take a very very long time to be seated. the salsa bar is amazing. Drinks also amazing.the food was pretty good although I did think the cilantro lime rice with slightly bland. Definitely going back to give it another shot and possibly more stars.

It was decent. Salsa bar was nice, food portion was a little smaller than typical Mexican restaurants. Really liked that there’s free refills for the horchata. Service was a bit slow but still was good. We both had the 3-item combo one with chile relleno. We shared dessert pumpkin roulade. It was a bit hard and frozen.

My husband, father-in-law & I really enjoyed the food & service. Their prices are also fair. My husband & I each got Strawberry Margaritas & shared the Cantina Molcajete plus all you can eat salsa bar.

Went to use a gift card we received for Christmas. The Layton location is under new management and would not accept the card. We now have to go to the line Iggy’s in Sandy and hope we can use it there. Today we found a coupon on the Southwest Cantina site for free dessert. Apparently this isn’t their site either because that wasn’t valid either. We ended up staying because it was getting late and we didn’t want to go somewhere else at that point. An hour prior to closing the salsa bar was taken down. My food (tamales with rice and black beans) was good. My wife’s hamburger was so pink in the middle she couldn’t eat it and the fries were soggy. The waitress Sarah was very nice and understanding. She was great. I’d definitely go elsewhere, the company has no idea if they are coming or going.

Really good food and very consistent great atmosphere and they play Mexican music as well over head and was very nice. We had veggie fajitas, veggie Chimichanga.

Misty Misty Misty was awesome best service we have ever had at The Cantina. We eat you’re often as a family But the service is usually lacking. Misty did the best job so far and definitely made us want to come back more.Macho Jalapenoes are to die for.

Sad, it’s not the same restaurant it was

This use to be our favorite Mexican restaurant. Great food, good service, amazing salsa bar. We hadn’t been for a couple months and tonight decided we needed the salsa bar and some fun. Normally it’s pretty crowded on a weekend night, but not tonight. Just thought we were lucky… but now I think it was more.

We were seated and noticed right away the menu was different, ok, no big deal that happens. Waitress then told us the restaurant was owned by new people. Hmmm Ok.

Salsa bar was different, still good, maybe not as fresh, but still a treat. Ordered my favorite thing Cantina serves, their great fish tacos, my wife ordered chicken enciladas. 45-50 minutes later the food finally came. No drink refills in between, no explanation or apologies for the time.

Then the real disappointment. The fish tacos were not the same. they were just simple fish sticks, like you get from Costco, in a tortilla. Dry, tasteless, nasty.

My wife’s enciladas were a mess. They were cheese, no chicken and they were swimming in water, yes the plate had 1/8 inch of water on the bottom of the plate. Waitress apologized and brought new chicken enciladas. She started eating and wished she had kept the cheese enciladas, the chicken tasted horrible, like boiled unseasoned old chicken.

It would have been one thing if this was the first time here and got what we did, but knowing what they once were and where they are now.

I’m going to miss Cantina, but they just lost a faithful customer tonight!

I love the salsa bar. Every mexican restaurant should have one of these, but this is the only one I’ve ever seen. It is fun to have so many salsa options. I had the chicken and beef flautas. They were both good, but the chicken was moist and delicious and my favorite. Their Spanish rice is really good too.
