My wife and daughter and I stopped in for a quick lunch. We were greeted as we walked in the door by a friendly employee, Shirley, and she was very attentive to our order and very friendly and full of smiles. The food was fantastic. The portions are plenty and we each had some leftover to take home. Their fried chicken is different from other fast food restaurants. Their fried chicken is probably closer to what my grandma made when I was 10 years old super juicy, lots of pepper, and crunchy skin. The barbecue as well seasoned. I had coleslaw which was delicious and the french fries were piping hot. They were obviously just out of the fryer. All in all it was a fantastic dining experience.

Came after service today. My receipt shows 2:38 to be exact. Had an issue with the young lady taken my order once that was taken care of. Checked my food before leaving and had no bbq but a pint of coleslaw. Took it in and the manager noticed me and she asked what was the issue. Shared that the bbq was not there and I had a pint of coleslaw, which I did not order. Okay. Told me I can keep the coleslaw. Then she takes the whole order with an attitude and all she had to do was give me my bbq. Had them to make it again, I guess which the portion size was really small. Did not apologize or anything. Sad to say I apologize to her. She went to sit back down did not provide an update on the food. There was a server sweeping around the tables where she was and she asked him in a rude way, “why are you sweeping where he’s already mopped, that’s the most, and whatever she said was very low. I looked on the floor where she was and there was food around the table she was at. I see why he was sweeping and if that was not the case, why speak to someone like that! Her management skills is very questionable, she’s definitely not a leader for sure. My food took another 7-10 minutes with no apologies. I will be going to Garner for now on. Overall the food was good but the experience made it not worth it.

I think Smithfield’s is highly underrated. Where else can you get the same quality food as fast and at this price point? It’s a tough find.

My girlfriend and I can split a Combo-dark and be FULL for $13.

The pork is solid. (Honestly better than a lot of the mom & pop bbq joints around these days charging double) The fried chicken is crispy and tender, the Brunswick stew is like a veggie with a bonus side of meat, and I love their old-school shoestring fries. The hush puppies are a little on the sweet side for my taste but they are consistent and well cooked.

Add to that the crazy good service and it’s a no-brainer. They bring refills to the table and take the plates when you are done. Real food, faster than McDonalds, with almost diner level service, still at fast food prices (or better depending on the fast food). What’s not to like?

Overall Rating: 4.7/10
This establishment boasts a fresh and newly renovated appearance, offering a mix of satisfactory and disappointing dining experiences. While the ambiance is inviting, the food’s quality varies significantly from dish to dish.

Atmosphere: 7.1/10
The clean, unique, and appealing renovation contributes positively to the atmosphere. Wall art and a thoughtful layout enhance the dining experience, making it visually engaging and fresh.

Service: 6.7/10
Service at the front is pleasant, with staff showing genuine care and engagement. The ordering process is straightforward, although the menu’s breadth could be overwhelming for some. The staff’s attentiveness and respectful demeanor underscore a commitment to customer satisfaction.

Food:

BBQ Sandwich Pulled Pork: 2.1/10
The pulled pork’s lackluster appearance and dull color detract from its appeal, even though the concept of pairing it with coleslaw is well-intentioned.

Pulled Pork Plate: 3.3/10
While the taste of the pork was acceptable, the presence of bones and cartilage necessitated caution with every bite, diminishing the overall enjoyment. The absence of BBQ sauce in the takeout bag was a notable oversight.

Coleslaw: 4.1/10
The coleslaw was average in taste, suffering only from a visual standpoint that didn’t invite anticipation.

Baked Beans: 4.4/10
An utterly average side dish, reminiscent of standard canned baked beans, lacking the homemade quality that could elevate the dish.

Chicken Wings: 6.1/10
A highlight of the meal, these wings were well-cooked, crispy, and notably better than average, distinguished by their crispness.

Value: 5.1/10
At $45 for three meals, the value proposition is a mixed bag. The chicken wings seem to justify their portion of the cost, while the pulled pork dishes fall short, reflecting a hit-or-miss experience.

Regular BBQ plate w/ Brunswick stew, potato salad, hush puppies, and a sweet sweet sweet tea! My go to! Don’t eat here often, but each time I do I kick myself for not eating there more often! 10/10 recommend! And the staff is amazing. They actually come by, fill your drink up, and are wonderfully gracious!

I ran in to grab lunch. I think highly of this place although I don’t eat fried chicken and bbq often. Needless to say when I got home. Not only was my order incorrect but my fries were cold which they should not have been since I only live 2 miles from the restaurant. My BBQ was missing off of my plate. And the chicken was the worst I have had in a very long time. Way way way to breaded. I was highly disappointed. I’m uncertain about visiting this location in the near future. What a shame because it’s closer to where we live.

I love Smithfield’s and the people who work there are always top class. Hadn’t been to a Smithfield’s in a little while, but this last trip ended in disaster. We visited Smithfield’s yesterday with my brother who I don’t get to see often. We ordered similar meals. Food was below their standard, but wasn’t bad so no one had complaints. After leaving, all three of us got minor food poisoning from the food we ate either right away or over the next day. If it had just been one of us, I wouldn’t point the finger, but all three was telling. Please improve your sanitation standards or whatever it is causing this.

Traveling thru the area seen signs from interstate. It’s a bit off route but very worth the stop. Great staff. Clean restaurant. Didn’t care for the baked beans but the chicken strip and BBQ was great. Hush puppies are the best.

On 12/20 I ordered a tailgate special with bbq and a Bbq sandwich combo. I come to this location all the time and never have a problem with the food or service. However, when I got home I realized the Bbq and coleslaw from the tailgate meal was missing. I called the restaurant and spoke with Leslie and told her I didn’t receive the bbq and Coleslaw. She asked for my order number and said “ Are you sure because I packed the bag and I know i put it in there” I was very confused and took it as if she’s saying I’m lying. She told me I can come back… I told her I live 20 mins away and asked if I can come the next day…. I went back today (12/21) and told the nice lady at the register I was there to pick up the missing items from my order I got the day before and told her I spoke with Leslie. She yelled out to Leslie and told her I was there. Leslie looked at me and rolled her eyes.. slams the coleslaw and bbq on the tray and continued on with her other orders. I didn’t come back to pick up bbq, coleslaw and a side of attitude. Not one time did Leslie apologize for the inconvenience caused on her end but she definitely made it known that she felt that I was lying about the missing items. Leslie can use some customer service training. I can definitely say I will never return back to this location due to the nasty experience I had with Leslie.
