We’ve been coming to Surfer the Bar since it first opened, and we always love the vibe here. The music, the ocean view, and the energy are great—but this visit was extra special thanks to our bartender, Miles. Hands down our favorite! He’s got such a great personality, super friendly, and just makes you feel welcome the moment you sit down. We had fun chatting with him over a couple of drinks.
At night, Surfer is one of the best spots in Jax Beach—upstairs you can dance to house music with a gorgeous ocean view from the balcony, and downstairs there’s often live music. Just be aware they do have a dress code at night (no sleeveless shirts for men), which caught us by surprise considering we were there just a couple hours earlier.
Still, Miles and the great atmosphere will keep us coming back!

Love Surfer! My friends and I have come here on a few Tuesdays for Kareoke, and we always have such a blast.
Kira is the bartender every Tuesday and with how busy the bar gets, she always kills it and gets the drinks out fast.
I noticed a review on here about a group being told they weren’t able to go up to sing. Believe it or not, the list fills up so quick, I got there at 9:45 once and wasn’t able to get my song in. But there have been plenty of Tuesday’s that I have been able to sing multiple songs. The hosts are completely fair with who sings when, as they only let people sign up once every 15-20 songs depending on volume.
Pro Tip: Get there at 9 to ensure a spot on the list!

Great place to go and watch games and turn up. My Favorite is Tuesday night with karaoke DJ Dakota, he’s amazing guy him and his girlfriend make me feel like I’m family. They’re fair to everybody and down out good people they make surfer a place to where I can call home .

I worked with Kira to organize a private event upstairs, and she was so easy to work with. She made every request happen and was professional and responsive the whole way through.
She also bartended the event, and our guests kept raving about her service. She was friendly, attentive, and really helped set the tone for a great event. We would absolutely love to work with Kira again and book another event at Surfer!!

It is a nice bar. Good crowd. Was a bit young as we were the old codgers lol. But they played a good selection of music and drinks were very well made. The crowd really enjoyed themselves as we did too. We woiuld definitely go back. The drinks were not bad priced. We had an old fashioned and Mai Tai. Very good taste.

Cool vibe and atmosphere on the bottom floor with a good mix of music playing. Bar service on the bottom floor took forever, 15+ minutes to be acknowledged. Upstairs music was next level horrible, it was like they were trying to accommodate every single demographic at the same time. It was painful, couldn’t last more than 5 minutes listening to it.

Do not go here for karaoke. The karaoke group they hire will call up the same girls over and over. We had a small group of 2 couples and put our names in for karaoke at 10pm, we ordered drinks all night until almost close when the karaoke guys came up to us (and others) and said we weren’t going up. The very next song they called up the same barely legal girls who had gone up three times since we put our names in. The bar security told us privately they get this same complaint about the karaoke company several times a week. Save your time and your drink money and go somewhere else until Surfer the bar makes good on their promise to hire someone else for karaoke.

They staff was very rude & inconsiderate. The “bartender” that supposedly only had 1 of them at the bar wasn’t true. There was a gentleman that didn’t seem like he knew what he was doing. Again the quote in quote bartender could care less after he gave me a beer didn’t hear much after that other than he was busy. Very unprofessional. The officer was the only respectful gentleman there and I appreciate that. Would not recommend this hole in the wall. Other than the staff that did their job I have nothing but respect.
